PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2022

I finally had my return to Melbourne Fashion Festival! The PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival was everything my dreams could have envisioned.

This was the first time I had left the state in 2 years, adrenaline, excitement, anxiety, anticipation, nostalgia were just some of the emotions running through my veins.

Alas, it felt good to be back.

Friday we checked in to the Adelphi Hotel, a boutique hotel in the heart of Melbourne’s laneways. It was the perfect backdrop for our weekend getaway, we had some time before dinner so we headed to Gucci (when in Rome* (*Melbourne)) and then had some champagne in our room whilst we got ready for our first show! But first, we hit up Bar Bambi for dinner and drinks before galivanting off to the Runway 5: First Nations Runway.

Before I get in to the details of the Runway itself, I thought I would share my outfit details, I had one factor I had to make work, which caused limitations.  I had surgery on my right ankle in October last year and therefore I did not have much flexibility (no pun intended) on footwear.  The second factor was to not buy anything new.  As someone who is become increasingly aware and active about our own individual environmentalism impacts, I still battle with wanting something fresh and new as fashion is a huge part of my identity, but I thought this was the perfect occasion to make what I could work with my existing wardrobe.

Of course there are exceptions to all “rules”, and one lust item I had on my list was a Gucci belt, when I do buy something new, I always make sure I can rattle off outfits and occasions this would get wear out of, of course buying something like a Gucci belt, I knew this would be something that I would never part with and is a quality item that would have a permanent place in my wardrobe.

For the Friday night, I wore one of my favourites, a Tartan Maxi Skirt (Zara), with a black turtleneck (Ralph Lauren), paired with my Combat Boots (Steve Madden) and my Gucci Belt (I just couldn’t wait).

\

The Runway itself was presented on the land of the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, and exhibited some of the very best, and emerging First Nations Designers, with music by the ever-talented signer-songwriter Maanyung.  I have never felt more overcome with emotions from witnessing a fashion show than I did once the following designers paraded their proudest pieces.

  • MAARA Collective
  • Liandra Swim
  • NGALI
  • Yanggurdi
  • Amber Days
  • Ngarru Miimi
  • Kirrikin
  • Wa-Ring

It was a show, I instantly craved more for, and designers that instantly became targets on my radar, if there is one show to go to in an Australian Fashion Festival, it’s one put on by First Nations Designers, their raw talent, cultural history, and pride that flowed through their designs was unlike anything I had every experienced.

And we have only just began.

Saturday, we headed to the Chanel Exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria (more on this in a separate post to come), which naturally transitioned in to lunch at probably one of the best restaurants in Melbourne: Chin Chin.

There was enough food consumed, to have us fuelled for days to come.

That night, we headed to the Closing Ceremony of PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2022, and it did not disappoint.  I decided to bring a bit more colour to tonights look, at was the theme, so I paired my Pink Knit Mini Skirt (Zara) with a Red Knit (Shein) I just love a pink and red moment, with again my Black Combat Boots and black stockings.

Held at the Margaret Court Arena, you could tell it was set to be a theatrical experience. As Melbourne’s’ Fashionable elite entered the ground, you could instantly feel the creative connection binding everyone, it was as if a everyone had received a new lease on their creative life and were bursting to be there.

As we took our places around the court, where some of the greats played, our Australian’ great designers were about to come out to play.  There was no shortage of entertainment by Vera Blue who graced the floor in-between runways, and of course the designers did not disappoint, it was so great to see Designers I have followed for years, in amongst new designers that were truly out to win with their designers, the designers who presented at the Closing Runway were:

  • Carla Zampatti
  • Romance Was Born
  • Mariam Seddiq
  • Paolo Sebastian
  • Strateas Carlucci
  • JasonGrech
  • Cappellazzo
  • Leo Lin
  • Myami

The rest of our Melbourne trip was filled with walking around laneways, good food, good drinks and even better ambiance. I am busting to get to back, what an emergence to return to Melbourne for Fashion Week.

Let’s hope it isn’t too long between visits

Hello New Year

Just like pulling out your old diary from High School, gently blowing the dust off

The rush off of nostalgia hits you with a familiar force. It has been just under two years since I’ve properly ‘blogged’.

Between a lack of motivation and extreme lack of travel, the last 2 years have been a whirlwind where my passion to share my fashion and adventures with you has been dormant.

I am a believer in honesty and I could not come here just for the sake of it to share content with you all. But the start of 2022 albeit still a tad slow and uncertain (understatement!) I feel a sense of normality, and most importantly passion to start sharing again.

I can’t say that I am fearless now and ready to catapult in to the world, where every ‘outing’ I fear I have contracted the ‘C’ word, but we can’t live life by the sidelines, I feel it’s time to slowly get back to more livin’.

With that I have a few exciting ventures coming up (well planned).

I am headed to Melbourne for Fashion Week in March! It has been way too long since sitting along side a runway and I am way too excited, of course Melbourne will also be filled with good food and shopping!

There will also be some travel adventures taking place (Australia bound) in April and May (thus far) that I cannot wait to share with you, it’s been a huge void in my life and my sense of adventure could not be stronger!

I am also hoping to work with a few brands this year and increase my exposure – I will keep you updated.

Until next time!

BATHROOM ORGANISATION

I am on week 6 of working from home, and who knows what day self-isolating.

I’ve been trying to find a happy medium of using this time to relax and detune and also be somewhat productive.  Over the weekend I completely gutted and organised my bathroom, it was like a form of therapy.

Following the same theme of sustainability and quality over quantity, I have also translated that to assessing what I actually use which after the weekend has now created so much more space in my cupboards! It’s a good feeling.

Not too long ago I did a post on Bathroom Sustainability, highlighting my Bare Minerals face products.  I gave myself the task of going through my bathroom and changing it up so everything in that one area is kind, or kinder to the environment.  Of course some products were already taking residence there, so I have created a list to replace these with eco alternatives once they’ve run their course.

My skin has already thanked me for it.

In conjunction with focusing on having a sustainable bathroom, I also wanted to make it a sanctuary, a place where I can unwind or proactively start my day.  This is also reflected in how I have organised my space.

Here’s what I did.

Makeup

  • Daily Products
  • Lips
  • Eyes
  • Face

Skincare

  • Morning
  • Night

Other:

  • Hair Care
  • Perfumes
  • Body
  • Spa (including face masks, bath salts etc.)
  • Nails
  • Sanitary
  • Essentials (soaps/toilet paper etc.)
  • Misc. (which will be reviewed, and if untouched removed).

I am really enjoying minimalising and organising different spaces at home, it has been very mentally cleansing to feel organised and clear headed by reducing how much clutter surrounds me.

I hope you have all managed to somewhat take refuge in this time to detune and assess your life and home that guards it.

PAOLO SEBASTIAN: VAMFF 2020

What feels like an unimaginable time, on the cusp of when COVID-19 got real in Australia. With the cancellation of some Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) 2020 events being cancelled.

Fortunately Paolo Sebastian debuted at VAMFF for the first time in the history of it’s 13 years as an Australian Couture Fashion House.

The Spring/Summer 2020 Couture Collection, namely ‘The Passage of Spring’, glided down the Vogue Runway styled by Vogue Fashion Editor: Pip Moroney.

“Closing the Vogue Runway was such an Honour. We have loved making our debut at VAMFF this year” – Paul Vasileff

Unfortunately I was not there to bear witness but at a time when Fashion Festivals return from quarantine, I will be there!

Inspired by Botticelli’s Painting Primavera and illuminating the beauty of spring and the infinite rebirth of nature, this Collection captures the mystique of the three graces and the organic beauty they bestow.

As an allegory to the lush growth of spring, intricate seam-work suggests the formation of petals while voluminous ruffles and soft, floaty swing dresses bring luxury and romance to the collection.  Printed Silk Organza captures the beauty of the Hydrangea Flower, mimicking its degrade hues and unique patterning.

For those (like me) who also didn’t get to attend, you can live vicariously through his new collection available here.

WARDROBE SUSTAINABILITY

Following on from my last two posts, I have promised to not only share my take on wardrobe sustainability, but it is also a perfect post/activity for those of you at a loss of things to do, during this trying time.

Earlier this year, I completely culled my wardrobe.  Focusing more on ‘less is more’ and ‘quality over quantity’ to complement switching gears and acting more sustainably and conscious when it comes to fashion.

I went through EVERYTHING, down to my socks! And had segregated piles:

  1. Keep as current
  2. Donate
  3. Ditch (last resort)
  4. Compress

I wanted to make sure what I had available in my wardrobe reflected my style and made it simpler when choosing outfits (which it has!).

I have put 50% of my wardrobe in compressed bags, downsized my ‘current wardrobe’ and I feel instantly calmer because of it.

The 50% put away, are items I still love, but won’t see myself wearing as much of this year. Think of how joyful it will be come January 1st 2021 opening the hidden half of my wardrobe to review what I want as my ‘current’ for 2021. It’s a present for my future self!

Not only does this have it’s obvious instant benefits, but long lasting too!

Instead of donating and buying replacement clothes, I am consciously shopping in my own wardrobe, I can clearly see what I have and know that when buying,  I have more clothes temporarily stored away that I will get to browse from soon enough!

Now when purchasing I am choosing quality over quantity, I understand not everyone has the means to do so, but if you are buying a piece of clothing that is made to last, it will!

How I did it?

Go through section by section, separate in to the 4 piles and make sure you are putting away more than you are keeping. Also move things around in your wardrobe, relocating and redecorating what you already have available gives you a fresh feeling without spending unnecessarily!

P.s I am also using the Marie Kondo folding technique (definitely recommended).

While the majority of us are self-isolating, this is the perfect time to re-asses your wardrobe and have it reflect the you that is now! It’s also something for the whole family, and has it’s instant proven benefits to bring a calmness once completed!.

Start your spring cleaning in Isolation!

COVID-19 MESSAGE

Well, what a weird time we are all in right now?!

First of all, I wanted to pop in and say that I hope you are all spreading love (not germs) and staying safe. Just know that even though we are in the middle of the storm right now, there is always a rainbow, and it will be brighter than ever for humanity once we get through this. And we will get through this.

I will start sharing a few things on what I am doing outside of working from home, to keep myself motivated, occupied and productive. I have also started sharing my working from home outfits, because for me getting ready is something I love, and there’s no reason I can’t still put effort in, even if I am just at home, of course with added comfort options!

Fashion is meant to be fun, so use this time to experiment, play with styles and dress up for the sake of it! Please also share your working from home outfits with me, I am always looking for inspiration!

I also wanted to share with you all, a personal side whilst dealing with COVID-19…

You may not be aware, but I I have Type 1 Diabetes and Coeliac Disease, in addition to low IgA (which means I have troubles absorbing nutrients). That equates to 3 auto-immune diseases which puts me in the #highrisk and vulnerable category.

I do my part, build my body up with good nutrients and micro-nutrients, exercise and keep my blood sugar levels as regular as can possibly be. I am also staying home, to not put myself at risk.

I also know many others that have compromised health systems which too, makes them vulnerable.

I wanted to put some perspective, there is a huge domino affect happening now, and even though you may not feel as though you are affected, it doesn’t mean that you can’t do your part by staying home, social and physical distancing and isolating where possible, it’s really important to flatten the curve and help health workers do their job and help us in the vulnerable category stay healthy and not impact the health system more than needed.

I’m grateful I have the ability to work from home, my workplace have been incredibly supportive. Plus staying at home isn’t that bad, I’ll be sharing what I am doing to keep busy in my downtime.

Everyone can help. Please follow the advice from the Government, #stayathome and #staysafe.

ONCE UPON A TIME..IN HOLLYWOOD

Once upon a time… I was celeb spotting and eating my way around California.

Now I am all settled settle back in to routine I have had to the chance to reflect on my escape to California!

I headed to La La Land early Feb to be there for the 92nd Academy Awards (see pervious post: https://fatefulfashion.com/academy-awards-2020/), where I stayed at the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt and was reunited with my fateful fashion bestie!

As soon as we arrived it was go-go-go, no time for Jetlag! But before we get in to what I did, where I went, I wanted to share some of my packing advice!

It’s always hard when travelling, especially when you will be attending events and dressing up on numerous occasions to pack light, however it was my number #1 priority in an endeavour to be more sustainable and minimalistic.

I broke down my itinerary and first off listed the items I wanted and had to wear to certain occasions (i.e. The Audrey Dress by Georgy Collection for the Academy Awards at the Hollywood Roosevelt, and my hot pink ByJohnny dress that I could not wait to gallivant in, in Malibu!). There is also a huge stigma on #outfitrepeating, however I tried to embrace this, because if it is so damn nice, why not wear it twice!?

Once I knew what main events I had specific looks/outfits for, I got down to the basics and made sure to match out combo’s with different days so I would wear them multiple times! I am very proud to say there wasn’t one thing I didn’t wear, or wear twice for that matter! You may have identified some looks I re-wore or mixed and matched on social media, but if I can give any tip, it would be to plan ahead as much as possible to ensure you don’t over pack (it’s so easy to do!), travelling lighter is not only better for the environmental but easier to get around, unpack and to choose outfits for the day! Sometimes, having less definitely streamlines your life more, taking out the overwhelming factor of ‘what do I wear!?’.  I have recentlyfinished a HUGE wardrobe clean out, which I will cover in a post to come!

Other little tips on being sustainable are: Shampoo/Condition Bars/your own water bottle/not using hotel complimentary items, such as shampoo/conditioner, turning the light off in your hotel and so on, the list goes on and on. There are plenty of ways to be less wasteful when travelling!

Now to what I did, and where I went!

RESOLUTIONS

2 0 2 0

That sounds way to futuristic to be real. Yet here we are.

I took January off from posting on this platform to re-set, reflect and set my intentions for this year and decade. This however is a work in progress and will complement the ebbs and flows of life.

One major focus both professionally and personally is sustainability, not only how I can lead a more conscious life but how I can use my platform to lead with sustainability and encompass this in everyday life.

I already have a few plans underway and I cannot wait to share these with you all, in due time, however what you will notice more of is the natural incorporation of this focus and effort throughout my posts.

The fashion world is increasingly building on this important cause of environmentalism, being a large consumer to this effect, I am genuinely excited to see where this transcends within this decade.

Another focus is ensuring my values meet my actions, to continuously build my platform against the true nature of my beliefs and the values I uphold, for it to represent quality over quantity and authenticity.

As I share this, I am preparing for my first adventure of 2020 and headed to Los Angeles for the 92nd Academy Awards which I will again be covering live from the Roosevelt.  I will take you on a journey with me through the electrifying LA, calm Malibu and happening San Francisco.

I hope you have all had a present start to the decade and look forward to sharing my journey with you all.

SAFFW 2019

WHAT A WEEKEND! SAFFW HIT ADELAIDE WITH A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH.

Friday night was the Next-Gen Industry Mixer located at Lucky’s Beach Club, Morphettville Race Course which consisted of industry professionals sharing their insight and advice in to the world of fashion, in the many shapes and forms it takes, whether that be beauty, styling, design or even just the social media world of fashion.

SAFFW brought to the stage:

Between Panels, a fashion show swept through the beach club set-up, where designers including:

  • Loveday Collection;
  • Style Capsule;
  • Antidote;
  • Romp Squad;
  • Valente the Label; and
  • Miko & Mollie who brought their all.

Saturday  was the ‘Fashion in the Port’ event held at the Flour Shed.

This was the main event, the crème de la crème of SAFFW where a flood of designers took their designers from the studio to the runway in an energetic vibe.

The fashion show was broken in to 4 parts:

Bars were set up at the Flour Shed to get you in the right setting, with SA Gin and Wine pop-up bars topping up glasses all night long.

It was an environment where you could feel the energy, the creativity was at an all-time high and there was an air of excitement in the room.

SA was ready for this.

Sunday the SAFFW concluded at Plant4 at Bowden with a Creative Lifestyle Market, where more designers had their time to shine.  After a weekend full of fashionable fun, rest is needed and time to reflect on the inspiration that SAFFW provided.

I had the privilege of being a partner for the SAFFW festivities which included the backstage crew wearing a custom made SAFFW X FF shirt.  I have to say, I had chills seeing the volunteers running around rocking the tee’s.  Also having Fateful Fashion labelled as a partner with my logo on the Media Wall..

All I can say, is I have no doubt next year’s festivities will be bigger and better, SAFFW is sure set to leave its mark of the fashion world in Adelaide and I couldn’t be prouder to be involved!

SYDNEY-SIDER

To continue my birthday celebrations and play host to my international fashion loving guest, I jetted off to Sydney for the weekend for a lavish weekend of good food and company.

We were absolutely spoilt with sunshine which only lifted our spirits and made our drinks by the Harbour, overlooking the Sydney Opera House that much more enjoyable.

That night after filling ourselves up on Nachos and Burgers (it’s a must right?!) we watched the sun go down from our Apartment overlooking the Quay and were even blessed with a firework display.

A few friends joined us and we headed to The Loft @ Bungalow 8 which was amazing, the drinks, the food and of course the company could not be better!

For this occasion, I needed a new outfit and had a ‘Suit’ look in mind, picked out mentally and when I headed to the boutique, it was sold out. Damn.  Sometimes fate works in our favour, and our misfortunes turn out to be exactly what we needed.

I ended up getting a bright pink knit which I will get so much use for, teamed with a pink/red floral skirt with my classic go-to black heels, Michael Kors swing bag and a bright lip!

This has soon become one of my favourite outfits that I cannot wait for the occasion to bring out again, and of course mix and match with existing items.

On Sunday, after breakfast we went on a Harbour tour where Sydney put on a show.  If you have been to Sydney and never done a harbour cruise, you need to!

For this day of activities and running around the city and as the weather was cooling down a tad, I teamed my tartan pants, with a black printed tee and black boots, making me feel very ‘rock ‘n’ roll’.

Before I knew it, it was time to go home.  I always love my Sydney trips, most of the time I don’t actually explore the city, so playing tourist was a fun added bonus and has only opened my sights up to more things to see and do next time I am in Sydney.

As it is now September, my birthday month is well and truly over for another year, or maybe years, my bank account needs a little rest!

Until next time, upcoming is Fashion MONTHS, stay tuned!

RED RED WINE

I may have made my birthday celebrations bigger than Ben-Hur, but hey another year around the sun is something to celebrate.  Especially when it is with a bunch of your favourite people.

On Saturday 17th August a group of us headed to McLaren Vale on what had to be the most beautiful Winters day.  Our first stop was Alpha Box & Dice, I had never visited this Winery before so was very excited!

It was extremely relaxed, and the service was amazing as was the Wine! It was perfect for a group to chill out whilst tasting some of the best Wines in the State.

Our second and last stop was the D’Arrenberg Cube, this was my second time visiting, I headed there last year for another birthday celebration.  Each time it leaves you awe-inspired, it is a perfect place to take visitors and spent a sunny Saturday, we had the group tasting on the 4th floor overlooking the picturesque landscape of McLaren Vale.

I don’t know about you, but going to wineries always gets me excited about outfits, there is something about it, dressing up in a different way.

For Saturday’s escapades I wore my 70s inspired pants (Zara), a cut-out white knit (Zara), classic black boots (Wittner) and a 70s shag jacket (Maxim).

On Sunday (my actual birthday), my family and I went on the Penfolds Tour & Tasting.  Living so close, this is only the second time visiting Penfolds and the first time doing the Tour!

I felt very educated afterwards and had a new found appreciation for Wine and the process involved.

For Sundays’ wine day, I donned a new Jumpsuit from Birdcage (CMEO), teamed with black boots (Wittner) a red hat (Minkpink) and a classic red lip (Fenty).

Having interstate and international guests down, I had to show them just some of South Australia’s beautiful wineries.  I’ve barely scratched the surface and look forward to adventuring out and seeing more of our famous wine regions.

I as absolutely spoilt and am enormously grateful, however the celebrations had just begun, my next post will be on my recent Sydney trip!

Stay tuned x

SUSTAINABLE BEAUTY

As of very recently, I have not only started to become more conscious of individuals impact on the environment, but also, acting on those thoughts.

By no means am I 100% sustainable, however I am increasingly passionate about the small steps, adaptions and changes, we as humans can make.

As such, I have decided to make the switch to beauty products that are cruelty free, clean and sustainable.  I have done my research and settled on Bare Minerals.

Bare Minerals

Who “believe every little choice we make has the power to create a big difference. As the creators of clean, natural makeup, we’re here to help you take care of your skin, your beauty, and your sense of wellbeing through the little choices you make every day. To bring you makeup that’s full of what’s good, and free of what harms. We also want to share a bigger sense of purpose that goes beyond makeup. We believe that the world is full of opportunity and free of limitations. That’s why we’re on a mission to help you, your community and the world around you feel the power of good.

When you choose clean beauty products, you’re being good to your skin and the environment. Your decisions have an outward effect: even the smallest ones can impact your community and the world beyond it. That’s why we choose to be good, to make a difference in others’ lives, and to effect real change.”

I have started with a few products, I have naturally dryer skin so have opted for hydrating products and I didn’t want to post this until I can truthfully say they have been tried and tested.  Honestly, every morning it feels like I am having a facial, the notion of moisturising and the scents stop me in my tracks and prompt me to be present during this ritual.

As for the foundation It is light, yet provides great coverage.  I bought all these products from Mecca in Rundle Mall.  The staff there are so informative and helpful, they also will be able to help you choose clean products, or vegan, or any to your liking.

I have also chosen a Contour stick from Westman Atelier

Who “believe in consciously crafted beauty. That means luxurious, effortlessly beautiful makeup formulated with clean ingredients and no-compromises integrity. It means balancing perfect shades and buttery textures that melt into the skin with plant-based actives and cutting-edge science. And it means a passionate commitment to researching and reassessing our ingredients as new information comes to light.”

If you think about it, consciously choosing your beauty products for the better of the environment is a really easy step to take, or even researching the brands you are currently using to see what they may already be doing.

There are also many, many forums/blogs online that can assist with your search.

Of course, the world of beauty is not the only way to help and do your part, you can buy a metal straw, refuse single use plastics, get a keep cup, walk instead of drive when you can and stop to appreciate the world around us.  It may inspire you to live a more conscious life.

As stated, I am not plastic free, nor am I living 100% sustainably, however I am becoming more and more conscious of my actions, and it is the least I can do.

SEVENTIES BABY

Any excuse will do for a long lunch, followed by a wine tasting.  But you can’t get much better than doing that on Mother’s Day.

On Sunday, we lunched at Penfold’s Magill Estate, overlooking the vineyards and city it was just beautiful. We got spoilt with delicious food, decadent wine and divine service.

For this occasion, I decided to wear something comfy, warm and bright! I bought this Zara knit dress last year and have been waiting for the perfect occasion to wear it. Fortunately the wait was over and luckily the weather was kind.

I teamed this multi-colour midi with pink slides and my mint green Michael Kors to keep the colours running strong.

I normally gravitate to darker colours in Winter.  However as soon as the cold weather hit, I’ve been craving colour and to my luck it happens to be in trend with gorgeous pastel and neon knits decorating shop windows.

For someone who lives so close, it is absurd that we have never been to Penfold’s Magill Estate before. After lunch, we were treated to a complimentary wine tasting which made the day that much more perfect and a biding excuse to come back more often.

For those like me who had never been before, don’t wait for an excuse, make one!

I hope you all had a lovely day, spent with your loved ones, celebrating all women and parents who deserve every day to be their day.

NEON DREAMS

Saturday night, was girls night.

It had been a minute since I’ve got all dolled up and with a bit of a new hair-do I wanted to have my look reflect something new, fresh but still me.

I’ve been slightly obsessing over Neon lately, as it has crept in to our stores ready to brighten up winter.

I got this Neon crop from Pretty Little Thing and decided to mix it with a suit, to still give it a classy vibe (plus, warmth!).

I also, couldn’t resist myself – as a lover of coordination I picked up these neon pink slides at Bardot, which I’ve already mentally prepared multiple outfits for!

We went to Nineteen 10, a Burlesque Jazz Bar which oozed class and transported me straight back to Paris or London (in the 20’s of course).

Located on a rooftop bar, the Burlesque show started every 30-40 minutes, with a tease of a performance, the rest of the time you were free to enjoy the view over a few drinks.

As the nights are getting colder, I am a huge believer in stylish comfort, there is no point in looking great and feeling freezing.  It’s no secret I love a suit and set, and will definitely be taking advantage of this trend, mixing it up where I can.  I think it’s a fun and practical way to test the different fields of fashion and still feel comfortable and confident.

I have to say, I felt very Britney Spears-esque in this crop, which was fun to take the outfit in to an ‘after party’ vibe, dancing the night away!

For those who haven’t heard of, or yet to try get yourself to Nineteen 10, grab your girls and grab a drink!

VAMFF 2019

The other weekend, I was fortunate enough to attend the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) 2019.

There is something so New York-ish about attending Fashion Weeks, this time around I attended two events, the International Women’s Day Breakfast – presented by Marie Claire and Runway – Presented by Who What Wear.

It was my first time attending the International Women’s Day Breakfast by VAMFF, hosting was Nicky Briger from Marie Claire and there to share their story was the inspiring: Camilla Franks, Miranda Tapsell, Ally Watson, Julia Banks and Asher Keddie.

It was great to hear first-hand from the creative forces and drivers in their field, to hear that everyone goes through and continues to have struggles – may they all be different and the resilience we as women have to not only survive but thrive through challenges.

Friday was my ‘Fashion Day’, which also included a fancy lunch at Jardin Tan held in the Royal Botanical Gardens. (I talk more about food below for all you foodies out there!). My Fashion Friday finished with a Front-Row show and VIP Mercedes Benz Lounge Experience attending the Who What Wear Runway Show held at the Royal Exhibition Building.

EVENTS

  • International Women’s Day Breakfast – presented by Marie Claire
  • Runway – Presented by Who What Wear

FOOD

  • Ike Jime

Where we started our food journey, creating our own Shannon Bennett restaurant crawl.  A Seafood delight, in a dimly lit, cosy-yet-fancy restaurant, with an industrial feel.  We had the front row seat to the masters at work, showing off their culinary expertise.

The service was outstanding, it felt as if we were the only two there. It’s one of those places you know, as soon as you sit down this won’t be your last time here.

We got taken on a food journey, filled with twists and turns on classic dishes, and show-stopping modern masterpieces.

  • Jardin Tan

In between fashion events, we went to Jardin Tan, located in the Royal Botanical Gardens where we were treated to a Vietnamese lunch in the garden.  Very rustic, yet very Monet. The place, the weather, the wine and the food was nothing short of perfect. Pancakes for lunch anyone?

  • Higher Ground

It’s a mandatory ‘must see’.  We lined up for 35 minutes on a Saturday (which is pretty good, considering the demand).  Every minute was worth it.  The food is top-notch and the coffee.  Wow.  In a warehouse decked with plants, it’s what Instagram dreams are made of.

  • Vue De Monde

By now, you would have seen my posts here and there from my weekend in Melbourne.  On our last night, we took it up a notch and ate a 10 course degustation menu 55 floors up, overlooking Melbourne’s sun setting. Picturesque does not cut it.  It  was an experience of a lifetime and would recommend everyone to have at least once.

Over on Coeliac in the City, you can read the full account of our food antics, with great detail of our experience at Vue De Monde.

SHOP

Normally, I take my trips to Melbourne as shopping excursions, however this time, I focused more on quality over quantity (I already have a lot of clothes!). I also had a few pieces in mind I really wanted.

  • Michael Kors

I have been after a classic black work bag, sleek and practical.  I walked in to Michael Kors (after surveying every brand online) and fell in love, pictures are to follow on Instagram – stay tuned. I may have also purchased a mint green mini side bag – it was needed!

  • Platypus

Gigi recently brought out her new GIGI X REBOOK Collection, filled with 80s style shoes and bold colours.  I had searched high and low, until finally Platypus in Melbourne had them and they were everything I had imagined and more (yes, I know I am being dramatic over a pair of sneakers, but I take sneaker shopping seriously!).

Until next time Melbourne, as always you have made my dreams come true and I cannot wait to come back.

Intentions 2019

Happy 2019 ladies and gentlemen!

I will keep this brief, but I wanted to wish you all a positively exciting and wonderful year ahead.

I talked about intentions in my Christmas post but wanted to share with you all my top 5 intentions.

I am big on setting small intentions rather than a solid resolution I will be disappointed in myself if I didn’t achieve.

2018 was a big year, personally for me, and I feel as the months went by I got stronger and knew myself more, entering 2019 I felt positive, positive of where I am heading and understanding myself a little more, knowing when I need to check in with myself and track when my thoughts are going crazy.

We live in a very fast past society now, and everyone has a picture in their mind on how their life should be, what I’ve started doing is identified what brings me energy and joy and what detracts that, then planning my days and ultimate my life around that, knowing not to get too far ahead of myself.

Future planning is exciting, but it’s important to not be set on anything where if it weren’t to happen, it would leave you disappointed.

Having goals is an amazing tool, it keeps you accountable and healthily occupied, but being kind on yourself should be the ultimate goal – this can be incorporated in to anything you set your mind to.

Without delaying, here are 5 of my 2019 intentions for myself:

  • 1 – To adopt a healthier /natural lifestyle
  • 2 – To invest more time and focus on creative outlets
  • 3 – To spend more downtime reading (at least one book a month)
  • 4 – To invest more in self-care
  • 5 – To detox from technology on a regular basis

Now you know a little more about me, I want to share a couple of ‘intention goals’ for Fateful Fashion I have for this year:

  • Of course there is some travel plans on the cards, which I will share with you all when the time comes!
  • I intend to create seasonal VLOGs which will be published on my Youtube channel, including everything from fashion, travel and lifestyle – make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss any!
  • Fateful Fashion Book Club(s), this year as one of my intentions is to read more, I thought I would include you all in this by sharing with you my ‘book of the month!’ and as an added bonus I will have a special guest sharing her monthly book of choice with you all for the younger generations!  These will be published in my Instagram Story Highlights (@fateful_fashion)!

As myself and Fateful Fashion grow, I want to include you all in my life a bit more, to bring you on my journey.  It’s almost been 6 years of sharing my fashion journey with you all, but there is still a lot you may know not about me.

I hope you are all having a great start to the year and look forward to reflecting as the months pass (specifically in my seasonal VLOGS!).

Thank you for reading.

Christmas 2018

And just like that, another year gone…but not forgotten.

2018 was a big one and before it disappears for good, I like to take this opportunity to reflect.

As always, the ‘resolutions’ we make don’t always seem to happen, as a result we feel guilt instead of assessing why.

Is it that you didn’t achieve X,Y, Z because you were too busy – what were you too busy doing, is that an unknown achievement that deserves some recognition – most likely.

I am a big believer in setting out goals for the year and this year I changed it up, instead of having a few resolutions, I made a list of intentions.

And I have to say, most of them I achieved, those I didn’t.  Well they were only intentions, and I intend on achieving them next year.  I will talk more about this and what 2019 is going to look like in my next post.

But for now, it’s a time to reflect on what was.

Focus on the good, and accept the bad – but don’t dwell on it.

We are a negative-bias society and will feel more emotions towards the bad times of 2018 then the positive energy all the good things brought.

One thing I do every year, around this time is write a list of all the things I am proud of for the year, these can be as little as decluttering your wardrobe in January or eliminating one toxin from your life, adding a new value or recognising your values.  Spending more time getting to know yourself, these are big achievements that help shape you and your life in to the best version it can be.

For some reason, the festive time, even though it is intended to bring joy, it can bring on other emotions, and if I have learnt anything this year, it is about acknowledging your emotions, trying to identify the cause and letting yourself feel that emotion, knowing it will pass.

However you are feeling during this festive time,  I challenge you to enter it with gratitude.

Gratitude of another year, no matter how hard it has been.

Gratitude of the people in your life, even though you may have lost some.

Gratitude of your health, even though there may be areas to improve or even if it isn’t perfect.

Gratitude for all those times you went out of your comfort zone, you challenged your fears and defeated the odds.

I am grateful, I am grateful for all of you who are reading this now, grateful for what this year has brought, and grateful for my growth and look forward to another year full of growth and prosperity.

So in the midst of this chaotic time, spent with family, friends and loved ones. Reflect.  Reflect on the moments where you felt proud. Reflect on Gratitude.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and the happiest of New Years.

See you in 2019.

TEXAS 2018

It’s hard to comprehend that just over a month ago I was coming back from my Texan adventure in the US of A.

Started in Nashville, ended in Dallas and in between ate fried chicken, sung country tunes and rode horseback in the Dallas countryside – does it get any more Texan?

For those of you who lived vicariously through my trip on social media, or those who are planning one to the Southern States of ‘Merica, here is my itinerary and must do’s!

Nashville:

Our first stop of our journey, brought with a little adventure accessing our Airbnb but after that Nashville brought instant entertainment and a lot of history.

Visit

  • Johnny Cash Museum
  • Country Music Hall of Fame
  • Grand Ole Opry and catch a show
  • Visit the ‘cowboy boot’ stores
  • Broadway and hit up as many bars blasting country music as you can!
  • Draper James – 12th Avenue (get your photo in front of the mural and Reese Witherspoon may even like your photo!)

Eat

  • Jason Aldeans (best wings!)
  • Claim Jumper (Pizza)

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream

Memphis:

We drove the crazy freeway from one music city to the next for the main mission of visiting the one, the only  – the King!

Tip: stop at the roadhouses! Not only do they offer every single variety of snack, the people there are unlike anyone you have ever encountered before, and make for funny travel stories.

Visit

  • Graceland – if you are an Elvis fan this I cannot recommend enough – I spent 8 hours there, and had an even further re-found respect for ‘the King’. One for the bucket list for sure!
  • Elvis Presley souvenir stores – avoid the expensive ‘official’ stores and head to one of the thousand cheapies to deck out your Elvis shrine
  • Sun Studios – nothing felt more surreal than standing where the greats have stood (Elvis/Johnny Cash etc) I could still hear their strumming – also the tour guide was unreal!
  • Memphis Tigers game – the most atmospherical game I have ever been too, complete entertainment to keep you busy without a wing or moment to spare
  • Beale Street – Blues City baby

Eat

  • Hardrock Café – you just have to do it!
  • EP’s diner (Guest House at Graceland) – The burger with the classic EP sauce (Elvis Presley sauce)

Houston:

With a quick stop on the way to break up our journey across America. We arrived in to Houston – which has one of the biggest (albeit Dallas) freeway system to make any tourist shake in their cowboy boots.

Tip: road tripping from Memphis to Houston, we stopped at Shreveport and stayed at Boomtown, for a cheap night’s stay – I would recommend this little gem in between freeways, again the people made it! It’s crazy how from one state to another, the culture changes rapidly.

Visit

  • NASA Space Station – as a Science nerd this was a huge bucket list item for me.  I was expecting to be able to go in to the offices and start working (disclosure: that isn’t allowed apparently). Aside from that the enormity of the Space Crafts is one you need to experience to understand the magnitude of not only this world but the universe.
  • Houston Museum of Natural Science – again nerd here – they had Dinosaurs!
  • Houston cinema- I am that cliché, that when visiting the Nasa Space Station I had to go see the new movie ‘First Man’ which was unbelievable and fitting.  For anyone wanting to know the history of what went in to the Apollo mission with the beauty of Ryan Gosling – this is for you.

Eat

  • Mall – Italian  (the Red Wine/Caprese Salad & Pizza!)

Austin

We went to Austin for the Formula One, which was an amazing experience (minus the bus journeys to the circuit, in terms of touristy attractions – we didn’t tick a huge amount off but I do have a few recommendations for you.

Visit

  • Murals – One thing I found with most places we went to was the street art, and not just any art – these were masterpieces! Definitely worth tracking done and getting some snaps in front of.
  • Side Street Pubs – Austin was very alive at 5pm and we found every corner had a pub, decked with benches, even fires with the football playing (of course). It’s a great way to get to know a city by sharing a drink with the locals.

Eat

  • Fried Chicken – You just have to!
  • Any café  – dogs everywhere!

Dallas

It was pouring on our drive from Austin – Waco – Dallas. But I had to stop at Magnolia Market at the Silos – unfortunately no Chip & Jo but a damn good cookie!

To let my cowboy dreams be set free – Dallas was the place for me.

Visit

  • Dallas Farmers Markets – it was October, there was a pumpkin patch, I bout Cowboy boots – is there anything else more to say?
  • Deep Ellum – Bar central!
  • SouthFork – I never saw the show Dallas but now I want to, I also want to live on a Ranch.  Okay I want to live on that Ranch.  Not only was it absolutely picturesque, to make it more perfect we rode horseback across the acreage. Yep. I want a Ranch.

  • JFK Museum – a self-guided tour to give you the full history of the assassination of John F Kennedy.  What a tribute. Definitely recommend for all you history/politics buffs
  • Gun Range – When in Texas right? This experience is like no other.  Not only are they may more relaxed than in Australia, they have way more weapons (the bigger, the scarier?)
  • Fortworth Stockyards – Confession: I’ve always wanted that true western experience.  Fortworth gave that to me.  Not only is it ‘old’ texas, it has a Cattle Drive down the pebbled main street.  A petting zoo and old saloons – it is worth the day trip!

Eat

  • Iron Cactus – Mexicana heaven!
  • Five Sixty – Wolfgang Puck at Reunion Tower – a full 360 view of Dallas with fine dining – perfect way to end our trip!

Overall, it was everything I had expected and more, nothing disappointed.

They say it is all bigger and better in Texas – and that is not a lie.

However, what you may not realise is the niceties that follow the ‘country’ way of life, people aren’t as stressed, more welcomed to help and just want to share their story (even if it is recommended their version of the best fried chicken).

I keep getting asked, what my highlight of the trip was, but I can’t pick one, this was a very different holiday to my previous ones and each place brought fond memories and unique experiences that are incomparable.

If you’re up for it, go big in Texas – you won’t regret it.

Thanks for reading ya’ll!

GEORGY COLLECTION

As promised, I am excited to share with you all another collaboration I did to celebrate Fateful Fashion’s 5th Anniversary.

This time, I got a sneak peak of the Georgy collection and got the opportunity to ask them a few questions.

20180604_GEORGY_COLLECTION7448

The husband/wife team have become an international sensation with some of their designs featured on the likes of Jlo.

If you haven’t already heard of the ‘brand to know’ check out my interview below and get to know a bit more about the duo who are taking on the world and proudly one of Adelaide’s own.

Jlo Ares 1

??????????

Who are the faces behind the brand? – Georgy Collection is a husband and wife team.

Georgina is the designer and Paul runs the business and sales/marketing side of things.

What is story behind the name?

The name is just the nickname of Georgina – “Georgy” and given it’s a collective of her designs we called it Georgy Collection.

What is something we can expect from Georgy’s new collection?

Our new collection is called ‘True Romance’ – And romantic is how women will feel, as this range will feature florals, frills
and lace.

Gold Hera Jumpsuit

Gold Hera

MINIBELLA BLACK

MINIBELLA WHITE
What is one goal in the next 5 years you wish to achieve?

We would like to become a go to brand for anyone looking for event wear.

What is something you want readers to know about Georgy?

Georgina doesn’t have a team of designers, all her pieces are designed personally. She is also seamstress.

What has been the biggest highlight of Georgy to date?

It’s no secret that we were extremely excited about Jennifer Lopez wearing our Artemis dress at her ‘All I have’ concert in Vegas… But when she wore another one of our pieces (the White Ares dress) a week later and posted it on her own Instagram page, it was surreal. More recently, Australia’s leading stylist Lana Wilkinson wore a piece (the Chantelle dress) from our upcoming True Romance collection at our local Oaks Day racing event. The hype and buzz that Lana created was absolutely crazy!

Lana (Chantelle) 1

Lana (Chantelle) 2

Aside from the new collection, what is something we can expect to see from Georgy in the near future?

We will look to start bringing out other fashion accessories such as eyewear, bags
etc as we want Georgy to become a one stop fashion destination.

What is one lesson you wish to pass on to aspiring fashion creatives?

You will get advice from many different people. You can’t please them all. Just do you!

What has been the most challenging obstacle in starting Georgy?

As with most startups, the amount of work required for such a small team is very challenging. There are no days off, so I guess keeping up with the amount of work required is the most challenging task at this stage.

What is the most rewarding part of Georgy and your journey to date?

Seeing women all over the world dressed in Georgy

Thanks again Paul & Georgina for this opportunity, look forward to seeing more of your success to come!

10 YEARS STRONGER

How do you start your morning?

Do you check your phone first thing? Turn on the kettle to make a coffee? Run to the bathroom?

Me? I check my Blood Sugar Levels (BSL).

10 years ago today, I got diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes which is an auto immune disease, that unfortunately is irreversible.

Over the last ten years, on average (minimum) I would have done 21,900 injections and roughly, 36,500 BSL checks.

To explain it to you in a day to day sense, and please keep in mind no two days are ever the same, for example I had 4 hypos over the weekend, one at the level 2.6 (below 1 I am in a coma!).

The average person’s BSL reading is between 4-8mmol, mine can range from 1.5 – 25mmol (and above) – sometimes it is purely unexplainable.

When I was diagnosed I was told of everything I cannot do now that I have Type 1 Diabetes, for me, that only made me want to defeat the odds, but it comes with it’s challenges.

Before diagnoses, I had zero clue about what it entailed and my strength surprises me at the worst of times.

It is something I live with every day, that for the majority of the time goes unnoticed and in my household is part of the routine.

Fortunately I have a pretty great support system, especially my parents who have not only built up my confidence and independence to live with Type 1 Diabetes but have always shared my frustrations and have always been there (with jellybeans in hand).

I’ve had comments that range from “you’re going to need your feet cut off, did you know that” – from a studying podiatrist to “can you eat that” (YES I CAN) and “you’ll be fine, let’s go!” whilst I am mid hypo.

It can be pretty lonely at times, as no one knows what you go through first hand, it’s easy to focus on the negatives however in the last 10 years I can say that I have defeated the odds and aim to continue to do so.

No persons’ life is easy, and I can speak on behalf of everyone I know with Type 1 Diabetes, that we don’t need sympathy, only understanding and awareness.

I know that if I never got diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (which at times I wish I didn’t) I wouldn’t have the opportunities I have had or be the strong person I am today.

As each year passes, I know I am becoming the woman I am meant to be – someone I am very proud of.

Again, thank you to everyone in my life for your patience, understanding, support and love – I am extremely grateful.

COLOURS OF IMPRESSIONISM

received_10156373053497118On Sunday 20 April, I was fortunate enough to visit the latest exhibition at the South Australian Art Gallery – Colours of Impressionism – Masterpieces from the Musée D’Orsay.

received_10156373053562118Unfortunately, I never quite made it to Giverny to see Monet’s Garden, it had always been a dream of mine to see his famous Water Lily creation.

The exhibition consisted of artists such as Monet, Renoir, Manet, Morisot, Pissarro and Cézanne as well as many, many more.

It was a rainy Sunday and I was quickly taken back to the streets of Paris, where artists breathe creativity like air.  For this occasion I decided to dress the part.  I recently purchased this shirt/jumper from Forever New which doubles in practicality and wearability – transitioning from work to casual to dressy effortlessly.  I donned this with a black winters’ cap, black boots, my burgundy backpack (again for practicality), completed with my winter staple – my black cape.

received_10156373053672118

received_10156373053597118

I felt at home, wandering around the Art Gallery, getting lost in the works of the most famous artists in history.  It was quite captivating, the sheer detail and simplicity, of each painting yet each had depth that delved deeper with every glance.

I left quite inspired, and dressed like an artiste I was ready to get back in the studio to create!  It also cemented the fact my next trip to Paris would entail a trip to where Monet created my favourite masterpiece.

received_10156373053517118

The exhibition is on until 29 July 2019 – if you haven’t already, I suggest taking some time out and seeing it before it disappears back to France. It’s the perfect Sunday setting, especially if it’s raining outside – what could be better than admiring artwork and grabbing a coffee!

VERSAILLES

There’s no comparing the streets of Paris that have been touched by rain.  It is as if they were made for it.

Versailles is like unlike any castle you could ever dream of.  The historic fairy-tales that fill the castle are comparable to its’ beauty.

received_10216592742796642

Every inch of every room is magnificently crafted, fit for a King, or in histories case many Kings.

As I wandered the immaturely manicured gardens of Versailles in a white lace dress, part of me got lost.

Suddenly, my cares of the Paris rain disappeared and time stood at a standstill in front of rows of mini hedges that oozed the essence of Alice in Wonderland.

That is who I become for the afternoon, little lost in history Alice in a Wonderland (albeit packed with tourists).

As we listened to the tour guide through our newly purchased headset, crammed like sardines, moving from room to room in one motion, it was easy to be swallowed up by it all.

However today I was not a tourist, I was dressed up, fit for my afternoon tea with the King and Marie Antoinette.

  • received_10216592741956621

The beauty of Versailles is worth whatever weather.

My advice for those travelling to Versailles – make sure to dress the part, of course not for practicality but for your inner child who always wanted to be a Prince or Princess living in a Castle overlooking endless green gardens.

PAOLO SEBASTIAN – 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

To celebrate Fateful Fashion’s 5th Anniversary, I wanted to collaborate with other Adelaide creatives in Fashion, to reflect back on their own journeys and setting future predictions/intentions for the next 5 years.

I have been fortunate enough to interview Paul Vasileff of Paolo Sebastian, who has always been an inspiration to myself and is a true depiction of hard work recognized and rewarded, and through it all, Paul has always been so humble and gracious.

Fateful Fashion interviewed Paul a few years ago, when we were both in our earlier stages of our fashion journey, and it has been so amazing to have the opportunity to interview Paul again, I am truly grateful for Pauls’ commitment to Paolo Sebastian and his support of others in the fashion industry.

SIM_5003

SIM_5139

Looking back what has been the most outstanding favourite moment for Paolo Sebastian?

One of the most outstanding moments for Paolo Sebastian has to be collaborating with Disney on an exclusive Disney inspired couture collection. For as long as I can remember I have been inspired by Disney, so to collaborate with them was a dream come true! ‘Once Upon A Dream’ pays homage to stories and characters that have played a such a significant role in my life, as they have for so many people

What is something we can expect from Paolo Sebastian in the year ahead?

I’m currently working on our Autumn Winter 18/19 Couture Collection, which will be launching mid-year. While I can’t give too much away, I’m really excited to share this collection with everyone

What is one ‘goal’ in the next 5 years you wish to achieve?

For Paolo Sebastian, the goal has always been to reach the title of Haute Couture, which is the highest level of couture in the world. While becoming Haute Couture can be a very extensive process, this is something my team and I are working incredibly hard at achieving.

What advice would you give yourself 10 years ago?

It would be the same advice I give to everyone, keep working hard, dream big and never quit

What has been the most challenging obstacle you have had to overcome with Paolo Sebastian?

When I started Paolo Sebastian back in 2007, I was just 17 years old. There were some real challenges with people thinking I was too young and may have felt that because I was from Adelaide, I had no idea what I was doing. Thankfully, that perception within the industry here has changed

You have always been such a huge supporter of Adelaide and in particular the fashion scene in Adelaide, do you ever see yourself branching out in to other areas of fashion?

There is a real community spirit here in Adelaide and the people genuinely want to see others succeed. Throughout my career I’ve worked with so many incredible people who have gone out of their way to support me and Paolo Sebastian. In terms of branching out in different areas of fashion, we definitely want to continue to expand internationally, however, still remain based here. Down the line we could certainly consider expanding into Ready-To-Wear and accessories, however that is certainly some time away

If you weren’t behind the seams at Paolo Sebastian, what do you think you would be doing?

Growing up I either wanted to be a fashion designer or work for Disney so I never really had much of a back-up plan

Outside of Paolo Sebastian, what is your favourite thing to do? When you are not designing of course!

When I’m not working, I love spending time with my friends and family, either relaxing at the beach or going to one of the many great restaurants in Adelaide.

What is one thing you have learnt throughout the last 10 years that you can pass on to those embarking on their own fashion journey?

Over the past 10 years I have learnt so much about the fashion industry, but one of the most important lessons I’ve learnt is the importance of hard-work, taking pride in everything you do and never giving up. I would tell anyone embarking on a new venture to constantly keep learning and developing new skills.

Thanks again Paul, for this opportunity to catch up and reflect on your success of Paolo Sebastian!

My little cousin Lilah has featured on Fateful Fashion a few times, however this time I wanted to do something special with her.  We decided to head up to the Country, dress up, dance in the rain and capture these special moments.

REJUVENATION

Last weekend, a couple of girlfriends and myself indulged ourselves in a complete girls day & night.

Starting with massages and facials at Cocoon, followed by lunch at Fine & Fettle then a stay at the Playford and beyond delicious dinner at La Rambla, it was just what we all needed!

2018-04-08 05.51.24 1

As this occasion was coming up I was contemplating what ‘look’ to go for, as I have recently changed my hair, I wanted something a bit different and that would compliment my hair of course!

Of course everything is last minute, and I didn’t decide on what I was going to wear until the night of, with two recently purchased options!

The outfit I went for was bought from Love Affair and was a TWIIN gingham inspired jumpsuit that was SOO comfortable.  I’m always a big black & white fan but this was something I wouldn’t normally choose, given the leg length and strapless isn’t always my favourite choice.  However I was in love! It was the perfect outfit for eating out and dancing!

I teamed this with nude wedges because a) they go with everything and b) are comfortable, which is incredibly important for a girls night out (you don’t want to be the one that goes home early due to sore feet!).

I teamed my look with simple rose gold jewellery, a subtle smoky eye, nude lips to compliment my nude wedges and my favourite Michael Kors bag!

90th ACADEMY AWARDS

On the 5th March 2018, the Academy Awards turned 90.  An historic event in time, with a focus on the past and the accomplishments we as a society have achieved, and the future – highlighting the important discussion of ‘Times Up’, gender equality, equality for all and the acceptance of imperfections and individuality.

What radiated a sense of community and love, the Academy’s hosted by Jimmy Kimmel was a timeless affair, with timeless fashion.

It’s my favourite time of the year for fashion, it gives the actors and actresses a chance to show off their personality with flare and pure glamour.

There were many desirable looks to choose from, however I have captured a few of my personal favourites.

Margot Robbie

MARGOT

Being a fellow Aussie girl, I am always looking to see her next ‘look’, always looking effortlessly chic topped with a glow, Margot exuded class in this Chanel number.

Emma Stone

EMMA

I am a massive Emma Stone fan, and she never disappoints, I am in love with her Louis Vuitton pant-suit choice with the touch of red and pink!

Timothée Chalamet

TIMOTHEE

A bold fashion choice from Timothee, a white-on white Berlutti suit which captures his youth, yet sophistication which best represents his acting style

Gal Gadot

GAL

Gal Gadot looking every bit of wonder in this Givenchy gown, sparkling from the inside out, Gal oozes confidence and strength in this eye-catching number.

Meryl Streep

MERYL

Meryl Streep is never one to disappoint, an all-round Academy winner in Christian Dior.

PARIS – MONTMARTRE

It was your typical spring/summer day in Paris, with sunshine in the sky and clouds on the horizon, we decided to head up to the famous Montmartre for a true Parisian experience.

27999171_10156108909472118_838028998_o 27999385_10156108909432118_10648988_o

We stopped for a bite to eat as artists of all ages worked their magic around us, it was like a classic French black and white movie.

We spent time after, wandering around admiring the work of the French artistes and of course made a few purchases – how could I resist?

One thing I was super excited about, being in Paris was the fashion – I felt I had a platform to put together outfits I normally wouldn’t wear in my day-to-day life.

I donned a pink on pink ensemble, a mink pink crop skivvy, pink flares from Zara and my newly purchased pink kitten heels from Galeries Lafayette and my pink forever new backpack to complete my look!

I planned a lot of my outfits ahead of my trip, however this particular outfit came to me unpacking my suitcase in our Paris apartment – double colouring is always a risk, but it’s the risks you don’t take that you regret.

For me, I felt like I slipped right in and as it started to rain, the scene was perfectly set.

5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

It’s hard to believe Fateful Fashion started 5 years ago. Boy oh boy have things changed, I would have never guessed life would bring me to where I am today.   At 19, I thought I had it all figured out, I had my plan and nothing was going to stop me.

I had set backs, then some more, then a few more, but I never stopped dreaming.

At 24 going on 25, I still don’t have it figured out, and I’m guessing no-one really does! I love the quote ‘some of the best days of our lives haven’t happened yet’, that excites me!

When you feel like you have no clue what is going on and it scares the hell out of you, just know there is always a rainbow at the end of that storm, and that is what we should all aim for – whilst dancing in the rain!

2018-01-31 09.10.38 1

I remember when Fateful Fashion first started and we got the rights to cover all Mercedes Benz Fashion Weeks online – worldwide! I was in awe, little did I know that I would go on to attend Mercedes Benz Melbourne Fashion Week numerous times, even sitting front row!  That I would work for Adelaide Fashion Festival and attend the shows, including witnessing Paolo Sebastian’s first ever runway which was INSANE! To actually attending New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week, my teenage dreams came to life!

I’ve seen our blog reach countries I never knew existed, collaborated with bloggers all over the world and Interviewed some of the greatest in fashion!  Including Bonobos, Ruthie Davies and of course Paolo Sebastian.   Not only did I get to play dress ups in Paolo Sebastian couture gowns, Paul supplied an illustration that became a collaboration T-shirt where proceeds were donated to the Leukaemia Foundation.

Fateful Fashion has also appeared in numerous magazines, including a feature story in LITA magazine.

I met the designer of the PFW Haute Couture A/W 2017 – Alexis Mabille in Paris last year, and got to hear first-hand his inspirations for his designs and the process involved.

Fateful Fashion has also travelled to Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, London, Ireland, Paris and Singapore, as well as numerous trips to Queensland, Melbourne and Sydney.

With over 1000 likes on Facebook and over 3000 on Instagram, it is growing bigger than I could have ever envisioned and has motivated me to really push myself this year to see how far it can go and what I can achieve.

I want to dedicate this post to EVERYONE who has supported not only me, but Fateful Fashion, of course a HUGE thank you to Alexis, who without her, this ‘dream’ would never have happened, and of course my Mum, for the face behind the camera and the words of encouragement every time I face doubt, and my dad for all the business advice, who helped turn dreams into reality.

There are many many more individuals to thank, so this is to you all, and to all the dreamers!

Here’s to the next great 5 years!

BEACH HOPPER

20180122_110443

Happy New Year everyone!

I’m excited to share with you my very first blog post for 2018! How is it the end of January already?!

As some of you may be aware, Adelaide is experiencing a bit of a heat-wave, which created the perfect excuse to go to the beach!

On Saturday, my friend and I ventured down to Seacliff beach for some much needed relaxation and rejuvenation, and what better place to reset then at the beach.

20180120_203311 2018-01-24 06.23.52 1

I’m mostly a river girl, so when I go to the beach – it’s exciting because I can get more use out of my ‘nicer’ bathers that I know won’t get ruined by murky water or chlorine.

For this occasion, I teamed my Seafolly black & white Chevron one piece with a matching tote and black & white patterned round towel.

I have naturally very fair skin, so a one piece (albeit trendy) is also a sensible choice for myself.  However this particular suit gives off unfortunate tan lines – but hey, small price to pay for fashion!

The water was crystal clear, slightly cool which became a needed relief from the steamy sun, the sand hot but soft and the atmosphere of Seacliff was busy, yet chilled.

20180120_203359

Nothing feels more Australian to me, then spending the day at the beach to hopping to another beach at night, letting your hair be free and makeup low-key, it’s a cleansing feeling.

With the new year already in full swing, it’s nice to take a moment and have fun, not worry about the to-do list, let go of inhabitations and simply be.

2018-01-20 05.20.15 1

This is the theme I am intending for this year, to let go of what doesn’t serve me and just be. Easier said than done, but I believe everything is a practice and good things take time.

This year, instead of resolutions, I’ve set intentions, including some goals, but mainly a focus on joy and being present.

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful start to the new year, and that your 2018 only gets better and better!

AFF 2017

It was every little girls dream…

Sunday evening I attended the Paolo Sebastian 2018 Spring/Summer Couture Collection ‘Once Upon a Dream’ show, which was the finale of the Adelaide Fashion Festival 2017 hosted in the Torrens Parade Ground.

The Festival itself was on another level, with barbie pink photo-booths and horse statues, you knew your mind was going to be blown by whatever was behind those doors.

Paolo Sebastian brought your favourite Disney characters to life and somehow made everyone’s dreams come true.

It wasn’t a fashion show, it was an experience that left you in awe and with tears in your eyes.

Inspired by Disney movies, you got to escape with him on this magical journey of fashion.

Fairy tale dresses full of french tulle, silk chiffon and beads glided down the grass covered runway that was decorated with floral arrangements that would overhang and tower over the models.

In collaboration with Disney, Paul celebrates his tenth year and sixteenth collection of Paolo Sebastian dedicating this collection to all those who believed in a dream, as Walt Disney said ‘all our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.

With the contrast of the cinderella and wicked witch, Paul channels the beauty within both the light and dark. Leaving us inspired by the dress that truly represents fairy tales, that they all lived Happily Ever After…

PARIS – PFW A/W 2017

20292176_10155539286812118_1234135985_n

On the 4th July 2017 I had the privilege of attending Paris Fashion Week, Alexis Mabille Haute-Couture Autumn/Winter 2017 at Hotel D’evreux.

When I arrived at my hotel in Paris, they handed me the invitation that was sent for me. To say I was excited is a HUGE understatement. I have dreamt of attending Paris Fashion Week for as long as I can remember, and to be invited to a Designers’ Haute-Couture Collection Showing was a little mind-blowing.

My instant reaction was to scream and cry from my Paris balcony (which I did) my second was to go shopping to find THE outfit to wear.

Luckily, I was in the perfect city to go shopping and on the first day I found THE outfit.

The day of the show I was a bunch of nerves, anticipating getting ready and making sure we weren’t late.

The time came, and the traffic was manic, fortunately we arrived just in time and arrived at Hotel D’evreux located next to the Ritz, where we went after for a ‘post-show’ drink (as you do).

We were greeted at the door by fancy models in suits and headed up to the collection showcase where we were provided with champagne.

All the guests were dressed to the nines and I wasn’t sure where to look. Couture gowns were displayed in every room, where the rooms resembled the Palace of Versailles – high ceilings and gold trimmings, it was something out of a dream.

We spent the next hour, flowing from room to room gushing over the gorgeous gowns, which took over 3 weeks to complete (each) and had 4 people working on them at a time.

Alexis Mabille is an International Designer, having worked with Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent before going out on his own with brand – Alexis Mabille. Alexis has also worked with the likes of Dita Von Tesse, has had a feature in Vogue and has over 40,000 followers on Instagram.

I was fortunate enough to catch up with Alexis and talk to him about his designs and the process involved, the passion in his voice when describing the collection was that of a true artist.

I was so honoured to be able to have the chance to meet Alexis and attend his Haute-Couture Autumn/Winter 2017 Collection Showcase and will forever remember every second of it.

It’s not every day you get to go to Paris Fashion Week, and it’s not every day your dreams come true. On the 4th July 2017, one of my lifelong goals and dreams came true and it was a surreal/proud moment, one that will forever be cherished.

I am very fortunate to have this platform and share with you the opportunities I’ve had, and people I’ve met, that I never thought possible, I’m so grateful for everything Fateful Fashion has brought into my life and all the experiences associated, as they say ‘little girls with dreams, become women with vision’.

MAD HATTER

For our final day in London, we treated ourselves to an extra fancy ‘Mad Hatters’ Tea Party, held at the Sanderson Hotel in beautiful Soho.

The food was decadent and enough to put me into a food coma for days.

For this occasion, I thought it only fitting to get dressed up and enjoy a pot of freshly brewed Alice in Wonderland themed tea.

As this is only the start of a month long trip, I had to restrain from shopping my way through London (it was hard!), however I succumbed in Zara, picking up this bell-sleeved Blazer and white knit.  I teamed this with classic black shorts and sandal heels for a beautiful sunny day in London.

There is something about walking the streets of another city, you take it slower and look around and at every turned we were greeted with beautiful quaint architecture and charisma.

London, you have been wonderful and I already can’t wait to visit again soon.

For anyone visiting London, I highly recommend the Sanderson for a High Tea with the Mad Hatter and you can be just like Alice, in a Wonderland.

PREVIEW: GEORGY COLLECTION

I recently caught up with designers Paul & Georgina Tsiavlis who are behind up and coming fashion brand GEORGY COLLECTION.

Not only was I lucky enough to talk all things fashion, I also got a sneak peak of their collection, which is due to be launching within the coming months.

GEORGY COLLECTION is a mix of class and sophistication – with an edge, ensuring whomever wears their gowns feel beautiful, confident and sexy!

With a strong focus on high-quality design and individual desire to suit your personal style.

GEORGY COLLECTION designs are bold and confident, and make the women who wear them feel the same.’

Thank you to Paul & Georgina for giving me this exclusive sneak peak, definitely a brand to watch and another exciting addition to the fashion scene in Adelaide.

Stay tuned for the launch of GEORGY COLLECTION.

KURTIS PAUL

I’ve teamed up with luxury British Brand Kurtis Paul, specialising in beautifully crafted men’s bags and accessories.

Kurtis Paul aim to bring high quality products to the masses and target a demographic they refer to as ‘The Modern Gentleman’.

Launching in 2015 with their leather collection, since Kurtis Paul have expanded and released their leather accessories and canvas collection, this was only made available recently and is crafted from a luxurious 20oz, super thick canvas. This was chosen to give a harder wearing, higher quality feel.

The brand is big on personalisation, tailoring names to their accessories and giving their products a unique personality.

Kurtis Paul was created for the Modern Gentleman, this is someone who as a sense of purpose, wants to have a positive impact on the world and is motivated and driven to be at their best.   It’s someone who holds themselves in high regards, has a high self worth and is determined to become the best version of himself. Much of his down time is spent on self development and he enjoys the knowledge that is received through reading factual literature. He understands that health is an important aspect of his routine and a health body lets him perform at his best. The modern gentleman has an interest in travel and the experience of different cultures. He knows that it is our differences that make us unique and by studying different cultures he can gain an understanding of peoples motivators and driver, he calls on this knowledge to ensure he helps other gain reach the potential. Helping others is an important aspect of his working manta, he believes that to receive you must first give and he enjoys the satisfaction of helping others.

I had a chat to Lloyd, co-founder over at Kurtis Paul, check out the interview below

Q) What made you want to start Kurtis Paul?

Kurtis Paul was started by two brothers with a desire to express their creativity and was born following many extended periods of travel.

Both Kurtis and I have spent many a day on the road travelling for work and are keen backpackers. It is fair to say we have tried, and tested, many different luggage products. We were intrigued by the lack of quality in the market and were quality was present there was a large price tag associated. It has been our aim, since starting Kurtis Paul to focus on why we do things. For example; we rationalise Kurtis Paul not as a fashion brand but more as a brand who solves the luggage requirements of today’s men.

I believe that starting our design process with the intent on solving a problem leads us to focus more and ensures our products are as good as they can be. For example; our canvas duffle bag comes with both carry handles and shoulder straps (not unusual) but by thinking through how this bag would be used we decided to make all handles removable. The wearer generally has a preference on carry style and in most cases the other handles are redundant. In another example; we know there is an importance to allow backpack straps to be adjustable but became frustrated by how the excess strap was left to dangle. On our recently launched canvas backpack we made a simple alteration so the straps can be tucked away and kept neat.

Q) What would you mark as your biggest success to date?

I think our biggest success is the happiness that starting Kurtis Paul has brought both Kurtis and I. We truly enjoy the work we do and feel this is more valuable than anything else.  As you would probably agree, being creatively minded there is a huge sense of satisfaction that is received by seeing the product of hard work. It is this satisfaction that keeps driving the team to move forward.

Q) Can you describe more about your personality in naming of items, what is the story behind the name(s)?

You will notice all our bags have a name, we consciously chose to inject some personality into each of them and have given them a persona as to how we expect them to be used and for what type of person. For example the canvas collection includes the ‘Arnold Duffle Bag’, ‘Columbus Backpack’ and ‘Donald Beach Bag’.

The persona of each bag was chosen as our way to inject some fun and character into the product range. It goes back to the earlier statement that Kurtis Paul focuses on why we do things. Each bag was designed with a clear vision on how it would be used and the type of person that would enjoy the creations.

The personalities are our articulation of this, we wanted people to read them and think ‘yes, that sounds like me’, we also wanted the persons to act as a motivation.

Self improvement is a huge part of who Kurtis Paul are, we believe that life is one continual journey in which we learn and grow as people. We hoped that our customers would read the personas and it would spark some motivation within them, increase their energy levels and give them some purpose. For example; if you’re using a bag named after Arnold Schwarzenegger your certainly not going to ’take it easy’ next time you’re in the gym…

GREENACRES

They say there’s nothing better than country air.

18118707_10155223561492118_357818951136302099_n (1)

I love the simplicity of life, a good TV show, Thai takeaway, balmy nights, city lights, fresh air and time to spare.
Time seems to move that little bit slower in the country, and offers you time to reflect and enjoy the little things in life.

For such an occasion, it is only fitting that you dress the part.  For me, overalls are the perfect match to the rolling hillside.  As a kid, overalls were our uniform, as you grow up they become the item of clothing you least want to wear and as fashion does, it repeats itself.

Personally speaking, overalls are back and now as an adult I can appreciate how practical they really are and stylish!
I don’t know about you, but I find that there are never pockets in women’s clothing so to have multiple pockets, I was overjoyed.  I picked these up on sale (always a bonus!) at Forever New, teamed with a crop, kicks and delicate jewelry my outfit was simply complete.

I read this quote about tying in happiness with the simple things that make your life, and it really made me think…  How often we, as a society relate happiness with the big moments in life, materialistic purchases, holidays, big life moments – all of which are valid occasions to be happy and celebrate happiness, however it’s the moments in-between, where you find the little things in life that make you happy and embrace those.

Speaking of, I am going to enjoy my lazy Sunday afternoon watching endless episodes of the Office and tuning the outside world out for a while!

VAMFF 2017

20170318_195008

Last Saturday I attended the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) and I already want to go back!

I started planning my outfit as soon as I bought my tickets and after a lot of umm’s and ahh’s figuring out what to wear I decided to let my new pink Zara statement pants take the lead.  I teamed this with my bell-sleeve crop (Naked Boutique) which was one of the biggest trends by the way, and finished with statement earrings (Sportsgirl) and my beloved Louboutin’s! My bag for the night was a last minute purchase as I got in to Melbourne, my new baby pink backpack (Sportsgirl)– to match my pants of course!

I think I must have tried this outfit on a dozen times in the week leading up, making sure it was the outfit.

Located at the Royal Exhibition Building the beautiful architecture was set amongst array of pre-show activities, bars, photo-booths and a swarm of fashion loving individuals snapping away and taking part in all what VAMFF had to offer.

Before the show started I already felt like I had a massive dose of fashion, one of the major highlights for me (besides the show of course) was the Mirror Mirror Photo-booth, which I have to admit, made me feel a bit like a celebrity – it was so much fun!

Time flew and before we knew it, we headed into the Royal (emphasis on Royal) Exhibition Building where the professionalism of the whole VAMFF event shone. It was hard to believe I was only an hour flight away from home, this event was showcased on an international level!

The show started at 7:30pm as the sun started to set, hundreds formed in and took their place and as the lights went down, the chatter eased off and all eyes were on the runway.

It’s hard for me to pick a standout designer, they all flowed effortlessly and I was mentally adding them to my wardrobe as they waltzed down the runway.

The designers presenting were: Mischa Collection; Thurley; Camilla; BY JOHNNY; White Suede; Zhivago; and Rachel Gilbert.

As the ceremony closed, I got Goosebumps, how lucky was I to have attended this event in the Fashion capital of Australia, it left me longing for more.

The warm autumn weather offered comfort as we left, chatter increased again, this time it was all about the highs of the show.

For anyone who is an avid Fashion lover, or loves a good show, I would HIGHLY recommend getting in early to score your tickets for next years VAMFF, I know I will be.

89TH ACADEMY AWARDS

The 89th Academy Awards is one that will go down in history!

Besides the unfortunate incident, this year La La Land cleaned up! A must see movie and a new favourite of mine, who doesn’t love a Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone collaboration. It was also the most  nominated film in film history and had the youngest Director to win an Academy Award.
And of course there was that moment Leonardo Di Caprio graced the stage to give Emma Stone best actress in a leading role.
Aside from the eventual ceremony the fashion was, lets say ‘Academy’ level with Paul Vasileff dressing two attendees in Paolo Sebastian.

Rosalind Ross, partner of Mel Gibson, wears a pastel nuage Paolo Sebastian French tulle ball gown from the label’s Wildflowers collection, featuring delicate Italian embroidery.

And.

Tony winner, actress and singer Cynthia Erivo is making her Oscars red carpet debut in a couture French lace corseted ball gown with pockets features embroidery from the label’s The Snow Maiden collection, which was inspired by Russian folktales.

Having been named Young Australian of the Year 2017 earlier this year, Paul Vasileff and his label continue to go from strength to strength.

“For someone to choose to wear one of our gowns to the Oscars is an absolute honour,” designer Paul Vasileff said.

“As a South Australian label this is an incredible opportunity to have,” Vasileff said.

Paolo Sebastian previously dressed presenter Giuliana Rancic at the 2014 Oscars, and most recently styled Corinne Foxx, daughter of actor Jamie Foxx, at the 2016 Golden Globes.

Paolo Sebastian previously dressed presenter Giuliana Rancic at the 2014 Oscars, and most recently styled Corinne Foxx, daughter of actor Jamie Foxx, at the 2016 Golden Globes.

The standout for me was the captivating La La Land couple Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone who donned classic Hollywood glamour. Ryan dressed in Gucci and Emma in Givenchy.

Until next year Hollywood.

OH WHAT A NIGHT

As the Year comes to an end, I thought I would incorporate an end of year message from us with my final Outfit Post of 2016.

Before I get all sentimental… the other weekend I attended my cousins Wedding which was located at Clarendon then the Reception was located at the historically beautiful Playford Hotel.

It was a warm day so I kept it simple for the Ceremony and knew I would be needing to get changed for the Reception so instead of buying two new outfits, I focused on the night time.

I had my eye on this Misguided dress for a long time, and thought what better occasion than for a wedding.

I absolutely fell in love with this dress, the fabric was light and it made me feel like Julia Roberts.

As the dress was enough of a statement, I kept everything else pretty low-key, simple black heels and clutch with loose curls and a statement red to match my dress.

It’s not often a time will come to get this dressed up, so I savoured every minute of it and had the best night.

It was one of the highlights of my year and now this dress has become a reminder of the night that was.

THE DRESSMAKER

You know those meant to be moments? The ones that just happen by pure luck.  When you’re not looking, but what you wanted is right in front of you without realising.

I had that moment not to long ago.  I was on a ‘planned’ shopping spree, getting ready for Summer otherwise I binge shop and buy unnecessary and never to be worn items in a frenzy. It was the end of the day and I had just about everything on my list, with one final stop at Bardot I went straight to the sale items and chucked in this dress that usually isn’t my taste into my bag just because it was on sale. We’ve all been there.

When I got home I tried it on, hoping it would fit.  It did and I fell in love.  I instantly started rattling off some of the occasions I could wear it, not wanting to waste it’s first outing.

The occasion came last Sunday when we went to visit The Dressmaker Exhibition at Ayers House.
The Exhibition itself was amazing, the attention to detail was everywhere and you were transported to a time and place where magic happened.

For those of you who have seen the movie or haven’t, I highly recommend checking it out, it’s displaying at Ayers House until December 10 2016.  Conveniently the movie is for sale there too so you can get your whole fix of Kate Winslet and Liam Hemsworth in fashions’ prime located in the outback of Australia.

I knew I would be instantly inspired when I saw the costumes so I made a conscious effort to dress for the occasion.  Thus the frst outing of the meant to be dress.  It was a beautiful crisp sunny day, so I teamed the floral layered dress that twirled with me with every turn I made, with one of my favourite accessories – my straw hat and finished it with some open boots.

Sometimes the Universe works in your favor and those last minute buys end up being your most treasured possessions.

Now to find the next occasion.

SPRING AFFAIR

I would love to say Spring has Sprung, but it hasn’t quite. The weather here has been very temperamental so it’s more like, Spring has sprung (sometimes) and that’s just a mouthful.  Despite the sever weather warnings we had issued on our State we took a chance and headed to the South Australian Countryside with our destination being the yellow fields of the Barossa.

Sometimes all you need is a spontaneous drive to a beautiful location to make your Sunday well spent and clear your head for the week to come.

For this occasion I chucked on my Denim skirt, red crop, slip on shoes and topped it off with my new spring staple – the straw hat.  Nothing says Spring more than a cute outfit and a hat.   I picked mine up Saturday from Forever New, I had, had my eye on it for a while and couldn’t resist temptation any longer, especially due to the fact that it was a beautiful Spring Day and I needed a hat.

You can just about team anything with a denim skirt and I thought red and blue would work perfectly with the countryside backdrop.

As the weather warms up, my spring/summer aim is to see more of the beautiful State of SA, there are so many hidden treasures around and I want to uncover them all.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend, I know I did, running through fields of flowers and greenery.

Nothing makes your soul happier than being one with nature.

PAJAMA PARTY

One of the biggest trends this season has been the pajama look and I had been dying to try it! Every major celebrity, blogger etc. has been sporting it and each killing it in their own way.  Particularly my girl RiRi! She has made it one of her staple looks and I’m not complaining!

Earlier this year while I was thrift shopping I came across a men's blue silk pajama shirt about as tall as me but, as soon as I laid eyes on it I had to have it. I probably looked crazy when I was purchasing it but I knew exactly how I wanted to wear it!

I had been waiting for the perfect time to wear it and finally thought screw it I'll wear it out to dinner. My whole look from the get go was inspired from Rihanna down to the posing of this shoot. RiRi gives you immediate confidence ( I highly recommend it!). I wanted to keep it minimal with the accessories and shoes so I went with a simple watch band choker (yes, you read that right). The choker is a vintage watch band that I came across years ago and turned into a necklace on a whim one day and ever since has become one of my favorite pieces! For my shoes I went with black strappy heeled sandals (very RiRi-esque) a messy top knot for my hair and finished it off with a classic red lip.

I had never felt sexier! And, in a $2 thrift store find no less. Never rule out the worst it can always end up your best and that's what really matters in life. If you love it, if you feel good in it then let it be known. Confidence is sexy and confidence coming from within is even sexier!

23

The other week I celebrated my 23 birthday.  I had an anxiety attack when I turned 21, thinking I was rapidly growing old and running out of time. This year however I felt confident, maybe it’s true, you worry less as you start getting older, and start focusing on achievements.

I am really excited about this year, I have a good feeling about it.

To ring in being 23, I decided to take my fashion back  a few era’s for my new era and took inspiration from the 70’s.

I bought my whole outfit (minus my trusty Steve Maddens’) from Naked boutique in Rundle Mall, it was there and it was lust at first sight.  I just love the bell sleeves and the skirt went perfectly, I even found a matching neck tie from Bardot.  The outfit was coming together #fatefully.

The best part about it was that I could re-wear it and it wouldn’t look like an outfit repeat if paired with different accessories, different makeup and an up-do!

I did a Carrie Bradshaw and grabbed my girls for a girls night out, girls nights are always a good idea.

BROWN IS THE NEW BLACK

For starters, brown is a very underestimated color in my opinion. And, for me it is a color I rarely use unless it is in boot form. This season I have challenged myself to wear colors that I would not normally wear such as light, pastel and brown. Black is my go to – always has been, always will be. But, I have had this brown skirt since I was in high school (yes, you read that right) and I have never wanted to get rid of it because it has such a classic look to it.

So, finally after a few years (five to be exact) I decided to dust it off and bring it out for a date night with my husband. It was nothing big just a week night out for dinner at one of our favorite places in Fresno and my oldie find. Brown is sometimes a little difficult to match to so, I knew I had to go with an ivory or nude color scheme. As soon as I decided to wear that skirt I knew I could pair it perfectly with a vintage ivory, chiffon top that I have worn before because the softness of the top would balance out the sort of bulgy design of the skirt with the deep pockets that it possessed and long tie knot. Then, staying in the light color scheme there were no better shoes I could think of to finish off the whole outfit with than my nude heeled sandals from Old Navy (which is still one of my favorite finds from there).

Little by little I am challenging myself more to step out of my comfort zone on colors and see what they have to offer. I’m sure we all have a color scheme that we are used to but it is always nice to surprise yourself and see what else you can pull off. Remember you can pull off ANYTHING with confidence and belief that you can.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND

It was a foggy Sunday – the perfect day for a drive.

We headed up to Stirling and run for shelter straight into the woods and spent the day driving aimlessly in no set direction and uncovered some pretty spectacular places.

Even though it has been freezing to the point where I can’t feel my fingers and my gloves are nowhere to be found, there is something about Winter that just draws my attention.  Maybe it’s the way the fog seeps through the tree’s or it could be the fashion.

Winter is by far my favourite season for trends, I know I say it all the time but where else can you wear a cap and a hat and run around the Botanic Gardens freezing your butt off!

These adventures are becoming quite a regular occurance so I have been planning ahead with my outfits. I’ve wanted another opporunity to wear my cape, this time I teamed it with my trusty white jeans, turtle neck knit, black boots and topped it off with a broad brim red hat that matched my lips.

I love playing around with fashion especially in the outdoors because it is so much fun, we almost got blown away taking these shots, but they were well worth it.

I knew when I bought this cape that we would have a grand time together and create wonderful memories, so my advice to you is trust your gut and impulse buy!

BOND, JANE BOND

The suit: Noun. (plural power suits) A suit stereotypically associated with the 1980s, characterized by sharp cuts, wide shoulder pads, and a stiff rigidity. (science fiction) A powered exoskeleton.

Alexis:

The pantsuit to me sends such a strong message fashionably and just all around in general. It can be easily worn for a day at the office and go straight into nightlife after. It is sexy, professional and powerful. And, the thing that I love most is that it can be styled in so many different ways!

I decided for my mom’s 40th birthday party which was Frank Sinatra themed that it was the perfect occasion to belt out a pantsuit look. Although it is summer time here I was really into the tuxedo look due to Frank Sinatra of course and went with a black tie inspired pantsuit. I opted for a jeweled statement choker necklace rather than a bow tie. And, the shoes well, when it comes to a pantsuit you have to go out with a bang. With that in mind there was no other shoe that could that job other than my Swarovski crystal, Valentino rockstud pumps. When you go with a killer outfit such as the pantsuit you always complete it with an even more killer pair of shoes!

Georgia:

I’m an admitted online browser, I browse online stores, add the items I want to the cart and check back every now and then with adornment, yet hardly ever buy.

Well, I paid the ultimate price, the red suit I had been eyeing off for months had gone, my size was out of stock, I automatically contacted the site frantically hoping I could sweet talk my way into having my size miraculously appear. I didn’t succeed.

I was waiting for the perfect occasion to rock this red suit, even thought I had justified the purchase with the numerous occasions it could be worn at, I needed it’s debut to be perfect.

Then it came, girls night out, dinner and drinks on a Saturday night and I needed that suit.

I had one week, I searched high and low until finally it appeared.  River Island had the suit I had dreamt about for months on end and this time I didn’t hesitate, to the cart it went and checked out it was.

Yes, I checked the post every day to see if it had arrived, two days before the debut it came and boy was it beautiful.

It needed some slight tailoring but thankfully working in the city and having a 24/7 hem store down the road is a definite perk.

Saturday night arrived, I had my hair done and was ready, I teamed my dream red suit with a lace crop to give it a subtle sexy vibe, my classic 70’s pumps and I was ready, of course it wasn’t complete without a Chanel red lip.

I love a good suit, it makes you feel powerful, equal and fierce all at once.

Now I am looking for my next occasion to don this look again, mixing it up of course – another perk of the suit, it can be chopped and changed to various outfits.

One investment you won’t regret

PARIS FASHION WEEK 2016

It’s that time of the year again, where all your dreamiest fairytales come to life in Paris Fashion Week.

In the city of Love & Fashion, designers showcase their best Haute Couture Wear for our eyes to lust over.

Every year there is always one designer that knocks them all out of the park and this year we are giving that special mention to Adelaide’s own Paul Vasileff of Paolo Sebastian.

Paolo Sebastian is showcasing his Gilded Wings Couture Collection  AW16/17 for the first time in Paris, an inspiration and friend he has done it again.  Somehow his imagination has created everything we never realised we wanted.

Paul’s collection is now showing at La Maison Champs Elysees inspired by a Woodland Faery and as Paul said himself “I want my designs to capture the imagination and allow people to dream” and dreaming we are.

Aside from some serious Aussie pride, we can’t skip out on the classics, featuring Christian Dior Haute Couture, Chanel, Elie Saab, Valentino who are giving us major 1920’s vibes and sporting a new spin on suits, which we will be featuring in a new post soon.  These classic designers are taking us far far away to a fantasy land where James Dean picks you up and you’re whisked away to the South of France to an elusive Movie Premier Elizabeth Taylor is starring in, ahhh if only.

It just gets better and better and we can’t get enough!

WILDERNESS

Last weekend my friend and I decided to go on a drive through the Adelaide Hills.  It’s easy to forget sometimes how much beauty you are surrounded by so close to home.

I have a serious case of Wanderlust and am always looking for my next destination to travel to.  Recently I have been seeking out some of South Australia’s top destinations and there are so many! I am excited to see what more is at my backdoor.

We decided to just keep trying and were overcome by beautiful lookouts and nature at our every corner, I love this time of the year, everything has just been woken up by rain and dew with a blanket of greenery.

For this adventure day I decided to dress the part, wearing my favourite ripped jeans and bomber jacket topped with boots and a hat and the most perfect top for any adventure, my Jurassic Park shirt.

If you are ever at a loss of what to do on a chilly morning or afternoon, jump in the car and just keep driving, you will not be dissapointed.

I can’t wait to share with you my next South Australian secret.

One of the things that I love this season is that tassels are coming back in a huge way! They were no longer considered keychain accessories but, were being featured in clothing, purses and the one that I am loving them on most is shoes. Every shoe from the ankle boot, to the gladiator sandal is having a tassel feature and it is coming out nicely. For the past few months I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair of tassel heels and I have recently found them! As soon as I did I could not wait to wear them and was looking for any excuse or occasion. And, what better occasion than a date night with my husband that he set up just so, I could wear my newly favorite pair of high heels.

Once I found the occasion the big question left was what to wear these beauties with? Really, they could stand all alone and wear themselves. That is the power of the tassel heel; it can turn any outfit from Va to Va-Va-Voom! Or, like our fellow Canadian rapper, Drake would say “0 to 100 real quick”. I wanted to mix classic and edgy pieces together to balance the sexiness appeal of the tassel heel. So, immediately stripes and leather came to my head! Stipes because they are one of the first types of pieces when you think of a classic look and leather because it is the definition of edgy. I have had this striped, off the shoulder blouse and high-waist leather skirt for quite some time now (they are part of my go-to staple pieces) and never did it occur to me to pair them together until now.

With the French, classic feel of the striped, off the shoulder blouse and the edginess of the high- waist leather skirt it brought together the sexiness of the tassel heel and created a powerful mix of Va-Va-Voom!

WINTER STAPLE

I saw this cape online on Forever New and I couldn;t resist.  I eyed it off for a solid week before purchasing, just to make sure it was something I would get use of, instead of it becoming a novelty piece that would only come out once a year – if that. In that week debating whether or not I should purchase it, I couldn’t stop thinking about all the times I could wear it.  Obviously it was a winner.

I’ve already got a fair bit of use out of it, I’ve found it goes with just about everything, so expect to see many posts showing off my new favourite winter staple.  As you can tell I had a lot of fun taking these photos, it made me feel like I was walking the streets of France all I needed was a beret.

To anyone out there looking for a winter coat – try the cape, you won’t regret it!

In a country as vast, geographically diverse, and steeped in legend as India, every place has a story to tell.
Submerged chapels and unexplored caves—there’s plenty to discover, if you know where to look.

One of them is ‘Gulf of Mannar, Tamil Nadu’. he entire stretch from the pilgrimage town of Rameswaram to the Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park at the southern tip of India is a piece of pure wonder.

Thank you Shalini for sharing with us all your tips on India & Fashion, we look forward to seeing how your blog grows

CANNES 2016

Canne’s Film Festival has kicked off in France this week and it is all about the fashion.

Each red carpet event brings a new look for celebrities and fashion insiders, it provides them an opportunity to show off a style they couldn’t in their every day life and it gives the viewers something to lust over and a chance to dream.

The general public is fascinated with who wore what and we as fashion lovers, live for moments like these, those who dare to dream with fashion and take a dream of a designer and give it life.

Here are some of our favourite looks, bold, classic and just plain fashionable.

VINTAGE LEVI’S

Spring is now in full swing and summer is just around the corner! Although, autumn is my favorite season I look forward to the crop tops and gladiator sandals that spring and summer have to offer!

And, since I am speaking about favorite things another one of them is doing photoshoots at night. My nights out are usually the times I fully dress up the most so, I do most of my blog shoots at night if you haven’t noticed by now. When G and I began this amazing blog of ours my shoots were mainly all in the evening and it was because it was the best time for me to fully dress up since work had me fully booked from 8 to 5. But, then I started to really like the way my shoots were coming out at night. The lighting, the mystery of what the night will hold really enticed me and thus became my favorite type of shoot to do. With that said now, I’ll talk about what I wore and one of my nightly outings!

So, another thing  I am in love with right now are a pair of vintage Levi’s that I found at a thrift store and simply can’t get enough of them. I have worn them in every way possible: day, night, short, long, inside out… you get the picture. This time I thought I’d wear them in a fun, sexy way. Everyone calls these types of jeans the “mom” jeans and I beg to differ because they can be styled in so many cool ways and my goal is to show you.

I had recently purchased this knitted mustard yellow tank top at Love Culture and thought the two colors (the vintage Levi’s and the tank top) went perfectly. For some reason the mustard yellow color screams vintage always to me. I also, wanted some type of chunky heel to balance the whole outfit together since I was starting off slimmer on the top and the bottom was going to be a little puffed out due to how “mom” jeans look rolled up. So, I wanted to keep the look flowing by pairing it with a pair of taupe platform heels by Steve Madden. Put any type of platform heel on and you’ll automatically feel like you’re heading to a disco which to me is an amazing feeling. Last I topped it off with another vintage find of mine an ivory blazer for the chilly end of the night and BAM just like that I felt sexy and cool in my vintage Levi’  “mom” jeans. GASP.

CHINA BLOGGER FEATURE

We have just started a new feature on our blog, where we will be interviewing bloggers from all around the world.

A different month will bring you a different country.

We are so excited about launching this,  for it incorporates both our love of fashion & travel and what better way to see the world (through a screen) than from a bloggers point of view.

For our first month, April we have decided to focus on China as it the start of their Shanghai Fashion Festival, located on the central coast, Shanghai is China’s biggest city and global financial hub – definitely just got added to our bucket lists.

We are proud to introduce China Fashion Bloggers who have been kind enough to give us a little insight in to their fashion world! They have recently added a new Designer Feature showcasing Runway Photos and a Bloggers‘ page which shows all the contributing bloggers that make CFB possible!

See the interview below

Describe the blogging community in China?

Blogging in China is still relatively new. A lot of people call themselves bloggers as a sort of “catch all” phrase for KOLs, influencers, or celebrities that don’t have a specific profession like acting or singing… this has diluted the term, and the idea of a blogger is even further diluted by platforms like Weibo. Weibo is a microblogging service, so many people see themselves as bloggers, which is both good and bad.

Anyway can blog in China, and a lot of more independent and forward-thinking individuals have already jumped on board… but the number of high-quality bloggers in China right now are few and far between. CFB strives to identify the best blogging talent and put them all in one place, to foster a community of like-minded individuals with different perspectives. Unfortunately a lot of people don’t understand bloggers or think it is a nasty word for people with questionable working status and morals, but bloggers have a lot to offer not only the fashion community in China but society at large.

Unfortunately a lot of blogging platforms need a VPN to access in China, so there may be a couple of very famous bloggers but the community as a whole is still in its very early stages

How would you describe China Fashion Bloggers and your style?

CFB is the perfect bridge between designers, retailers, and consumers in China. We offer a lot of different perspectives and styles. The style of the site is clean and minimal, as we choose to put the spotlight on our bloggers’ content as opposed to the design of the site itself.

In terms of my personal style, I like things that are obscure, ethnic, and different. It’s a reflection of me as a mud-blood, being both Korean and American. I like mixing ideas and patterns and proportions to create something new.

Best places to shop in China?

MHT, Triple Major, Autumn Sonata, Alter, Dong Liang, Lane Crawford, 10 Corso Como

China’s best kept travel secret?

Street food. Most people are afraid of it, but you should definitely try everything (except for maybe the meat products)… it’s cheap but better than a lot of fancy places in China.

LIFOU

At our first stop, we disembarked into the tranquil and secluded Lifou.

We spent the day exploring the streets of the island, which were lined with palm and frangipani trees and kayaking to the more unexplored turfs by ocean.

We made our way around the island in our vehicle of choice the Kayak, and uncovered a secluded beach.

There’s no feeling quite like it than being on your own little beach and although you are only walking distance back to the hut where they hired out the Kayaks, you felt isolated and the serenity was captivating, it makes you really feel the island and get a taste of what it would be like to be completely dependent on the islands natural resources and detached from the wide web of the world.

But then how we would get all our fashion inspiration.

For a day packed of exploring I wanted to make sure I was practical and what better practicality is there than a cute red one piece (aside from when you need to go to the toilet and of course the tan lines) but all for the sake of fashion.  Teamed with every girl’s island staple – ripped jean shorts and I was set.

If you were wondering why we were a bit MIA, I was sailing the Pacific Ocean, Island hopping from Vanuatu to New Caledonia and Alexis has been busing working on something special and top secret!

We spent 7 nights on board the P&O Pacifc Dawn and travelled to, two Islands; Lifou & Pt Villa.
When we were just cruising at Sea, we were never at a loss of things to do., with all the entertainment on board, we struggled to fit in time to work on our tans (hence why there isn’t really one).

This has been my fourth Cruise, and I still never get sick of them, they are the ideal holiday for singles, couples, families and solo travellers, there truly is something for everyone on board and the best thing about it is they take you around the world, getting to visit places you may never have thought to travel to.

So here is a snippet of my time on board, wearing one of my favourite Seafolly Bikini’s and Iconic Cover up, teamed with the classic boat hat from Sportsgirl.

Make sure you check back because I still have a few more posts to share with you.

INDIANNA JONES

20160214_085423

20160214_085327

Not too long ago I went to Zara, well I should say I went on a frenzy at Zara and picked up this little suede dress.
Among other items, i fell in lust, I had to have it.

I couldn’t wait to wear it, there have been so many occasions where I was tempted to but I thought I should save it for the right occasion.

One sunday morning, mum and I decided to grab breakfast out. This was the time.

It was only a double win that I had just got my hair done which we all know that your hairstyle is the finishing touch of every outfit.
I decided to go with the Indianna Jone vibes I was getting with this dress and team it with my tan brogues which kept it simple but fun!

This dress has come in handy in so many ways, when I’m struggling to find an outfit for work, this is a quick go to and I can’t wait to style it for winter.

There’s nothing better than a dual purpose dress.

Thanks Zara! You’ve done it again.

FAUX

Lately, I have been having trouble on styling my bob since I haven’t had short hair in a very long time. Especially when it comes to the night life. I always think what can I wear to show off this hair and look somewhat of an adult since my hair makes me look like I’m 12 again when I am not all spiffed up. Then I had the perfect statement piece to make it look like I was wearing the perfect wig. My pink faux fur coat from H&M!

I had purchased this coat from our local H&M a couple of years ago and is still one of my favorite pieces to date. I have only worn this coat about 4 times since that purchase so, you can say it’s a pretty big statement piece.

I was meeting friends for drinks so wanted to keep it casual but, still very glamorous at the same time. I paired it with my favorite pair of Levi high waisted jeans and vintage, ivory crop top. I finished off the look with pink and metallic silver heeled sandals. My hair has been getting me into some really cool, French, chic, glamorous looks and I absolutely love it. It’s always nice to change up your look and get into different styles every now and then. Change is good but remember to always keep a little bit of yourself in it.

xx Alexis

MEMORY LANE

We have teamed up with Social Print Studio who are running a competition on showcasing a stylish look book.
We are constantly looking back at our looks to see how we styled our outfits and how much has changed or hasn’t, we also ask ourselves the question, would we wear this again?

For this collaboration we are pulling together some of our all time favourite looks that best represent our style and personalities.

From our go-to outfits and the ones that made us step out of our comfort zone, see what we have to say about our past looks below.

aff

This is one of our favourite looks, one reason because we are both in it and because it was Adelaide Fashion Festival so we wanted our looks to be ‘sleek’. Two of the best accents of these looks is white pants & black strappy heels, you can never go wrong, they are the strong staples of any good outfit and can be worn in anyway, both casually and dressed up, teamed with Alexis’ Chanel inspired skirt which lead as a feature and Georgia’s Red shirt and blazer which transformed the outfit to a dressy suit.  We love any look that can be worn in multiple styles!

chanel

From french vibes to edgy – this is why we love fashion, keeping the same bold lip but transforming its’ style from two completely different looks, sums up our blog in a nutshell.  Fashion gives us the freedom to choose who we want to be and that can change depending on how we feel and who we are inspired by. edgy jacket

From a feature jacket to skirt, these are two things every girl needs in their wardrobe! When you are not sure what to wear a feature piece of clothing is an instant outfit, teamed with a simple top or pants, it can take your outfit from something basic to something standout!
maxi

And then there’s the ‘something you would never buy dress’, it’s always fun experimenting with fashion and trying something you normally wouldn’t like this girly southern dress because it may just suprise you and like the saying goes, you never know until you try!
southern

DSC_0726
And of course the classic red dress, need we say more, it doesn’t require much more effort, it speaks for itself and it speaks loudly and can be worn on almost any occasion, from work events to weddings, a fun red dress is a must have staple, like the little black dress, a little red dress in whatever style you desire looks great on everyone!

We hope you’ve enjoyed our walk down fashion lane, to see all our previous looks, go to our look-book page and to see what more Social Print Studio have to offer, head to their site to turn your favourite snaps in to long lasting memories with their great photo books

I went to see Ghost on Thursday Night and the weather had cooled down which is odd but not surprising for an Adelaide summer, however I wasn’t too upset because I love winter fashion.  As soon as the weather starts cooling, my inspiration levels and window-browsing expeditions increase so it’s no surprise I took this opportunity to delve into my winter closet a bit.

I kept it pretty simple and classic with my black pants, boots, hat and a staple white shirt which made my jacket the feature piece of my outfit, yes it’s new too, and yes it’s from Zara (which apparently according to Vogue’s article is meant to be pronounced Dzha-Da) but it was on sale so that justifies it right?

It was a perfect Thursday night adding a bit of excitement into my weekly routine.

FRENCH BOB

Lately, I have been experimenting with new looks to go well with my new haircut. And, I have been feeling the French style with how effortless and chic it looks – especially with short hair. I thought what a perfect time to let out my inner French girl and I had the perfect outfit in mind.

I had purchased an ivory Victorian inspired long sleeve dress from ASOS a while back and had no idea where to wear it to until I got this haircut! I paired it my Victorian inspired dress with a pair of ivory pumps, a feathered coat and topped it off with Chanel red lipstick. Feeling so French I knew the purse I could only accessorize my outfit with was my classic Chanel. It was the most chic I have ever felt. Man, what a haircut and good outfit can do! That day I happened to also have to take care of some very special business downtown which played a perfect setting with my look.

I had never felt so great and confident in such a long time it made the day so much better. You should always have a look that makes you feel amazing that is key. To me it is never about impressing anyone else but yourself and if you have achieved that then by damn show off that confidence! And on that note here’s to confidence and my future adventures as a self made French citizen.

20160117_132612

This dress made me feel like I was someone else for the day.  That’s the beauty of fashion, it can change the way you feel about yourself, it’s like wearing a masquerade and it’s up to you, who you wish to be.

I bought this dress the other weekend and instantly fell in love with it, I couldn’t wait to wear and in fact I didn’t wait, I wore it that very night to a shadier side of town and felt like I was Alice just dropped into Wonderland – out of place, but it made me  happy, wearing it.  I don’t normally go for this style, but I have been loving Southern fashion recently and this was a perfect find.  I teamed it with some black ankle boots and a classic red lip.

It got me thinking, that although this may not be my normal style, it doesn’t mean I can’t wear it.  We tend to get stuck in what we should be wearing due to social norms that we often don’t leave our comfort box to try something new, but sometimes it’s what we don’t think suits us that can make us feel more like ourselves.

So shop for you!

SKYFALL

How to dress for a Christmas work break up party?

I always keep these two pieces of advice in my head ‘stay classic’ & ‘less is more’. It’s always important to have a few options in case your first choice doesn’t quite look how you imagined it to be.

This was actually my third choice, and in a way I’m glad my other two didn’t make the cut (that sounds harsh, I’m sorry I love all my clothes), however this outfit – my black jumpsuit I bought from TopShop in South Africa has just enough detailing in it, that I don’t need to over accessories and after running around all day I needed something I could quickly slip in to and with a red lip to finish off I was ready to go.

When I’m in doubt with what to wear for an occasion, and before my desperation kicks in and I go impulse shopping (very dangerous) I take a look in my wardrobe and try teaming pieces together that I haven’t before. Another piece of advice I always follow is by Coco Chanel – ‘I always take one thing off before leaving the house’ as always, less is more.

THANKSGIVING

First off, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! Mine was fulfilled with family, friends and great food as always.

Except this year was a little extra special due to the fact that my husband and I (still sounds so weird to say) celebrated our first Thanksgiving as a married couple. I am actually very much looking forward to the holidays due to that fact alone. Also, I can’t wait to post photos of my wedding and the bridal events before in due time.

This year for my Thanksgiving outfit I wanted for it to revolve around these amazing pair of black ankle boots by Bar III that I recently purchased (ON SALE). Ankle boots are doing it big this season with skirts, boyfriend jeans, dresses, leggings etc. They are the shoe of 2015 in my opinion. I paired these amazing boots with a red vintage A-line midi skirt and a simple black turtleneck from Target to balance it out and I literally topped it off with a top knot for my hair do. As for my accessories I kept it minimal; Chanel minimal that is. I added my vintage Chanel gold belt chain to tie the whole outfit together and give it the right amount of jewelry. Lastly, I finished it off with my forever classic black Chanel purse and red lipstick.

With the weather getting a little more cold comfort and warmth is key and I was very comfortable in this look! It is easy to put together and each piece is so versatile. The holiday season has just began so you will definitely be seeing these pieces again for special occasions and everyday looks. Let the wearing of boots and to die for coats officially begin!

USA 2015

Not long after I turned 22, I hopped on a plane heading to the States with one of my favourite travel companions (my dad).  This isn’t my first time to America, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel there on multiple occasions, but this would be the first time heading to Minneapolis.  Why Minneapolis, well a part from the appeal of I’ve never been there before, I have another very dorky reason – The Supernatural Convention was on so we combined that with a road trip through America and it became the trip I’d always hoped for, and more.

fateful-fashion-usa-2015-2

We headed to Green Bay, Wisconsin leaving Minneapolis, we hired this beautiful red & shiny Mustang and cruised down the highway. After one night crashed out in Green Bay we headed to Milwaukee (where I saw One Direction perform, fan girl moment) and we did a bit of exploring and shopping, it was a much bigger town than Green Bay but nothing compared to what we were heading in to, Chicago.
 fateful-fashion-usa-2015-3
Chicago, what a city, a place with some of the best museums, shopping, restaurants, shows, views, what more could you need to help you fall hopelessly in love with this city.
We had dinner in one of the tallest buildings in Chicago, and we had a window seat which was apparently perfect viewing for the fireworks display they hold during summer, however there was only fog surrounding the building, but we didn’t mind because the food was so good. Roughly 5 minutes before the fireworks display  was scheduled to start, the fog started the magically life and sitting on top of Chicago, I felt like a fairy in Neverland.
fateful-fashion-usa-2015-18
We also dinned at RPM Italian, Giuliana & Bill Rancics’ restaurant which was amazing, we even got to see Bill & their son Duke make an appearance.
If you’re thinking of heading to Chicago – DO IT, you won’t regret, it’s one of those places that once you leave you already want to go back. If you are planning a visit though, a few must see’s are the Field Museum and the Million Dollar Quartet show.
fateful-fashion-usa-2015-5
fateful-fashion-usa-2015-6
From Chicago, we navigated through airports and hoped on busses until we finally got to our hotel with a view that displayed the magnificence of Niagara Falls.
It takes your breath away, the volume of water and the natural beauty of it, it definitely is one of nature’s most powerful resources, we took the boat right up in the midst of the Falls and you can hear it, if power had a voice it would sound like Niagara Falls.

We were only there a couple of days, but managed to do everything you can do in Niagara Falls including seeing Harry Connick Jnr at the Casino and almost winning (emphasis on the almost).
It was the halfway mark in my 4 week American adventure and it was time to head to the City that never sleeps, New York City Baby.
I could write forever about New York, but I’ll try to keep this as brief as possible. If you’ve been following our Instagram journey you probably already know what went down where and when but for those of you that haven’t, I met my other favourite travel companion and it was our time to shop, and boy did we shop.

I could have shopped twice as much but I would be broke and would not have enough space in my luggage and there was still lots more to see & do.

fateful-fashion-usa-2015-13
There’s a certain feeling having High Tea at the Plaza and browsing through Saks 5th Avenue, you really feel like you’re rubbing shoulders with the best of them and I sure could get used to that.

While we were in New York, we did the typical bus tour, strolled around Soho, took a bike ride through Central Park, posed out front of the iconic Friends fountain, dinned at the Boathouse on Central Park, shopped some more, saw Matilda and The Lion King which both blew my mind, had room service, a trip to Tiffany’s & Loubiton walked a lot, shopped a bit more.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

New York is exactly what you would expect, it’s a cit that always keeps you awake and hungry for life.
(pssttt in case you missed one of our previous posts we attended New York Fashion Week – check out our events page!)

After the hustle and bustle day and night it was time for the next stop on our trip, Vegas baby!
It was the reunion we had been counting down for, for months if not a year! Alexis & I finally teamed up again in the party capital of America for her bachelorette party and that is where I leave you.
To be continued….

2015 AFF – PAOLO SEBASTIAN

Our Adelaide Fashion Festival Weekend ended in the best way possible with front row seats to the new Paolo Sebastian ‘The Snow Maiden’  Autumn/Winter 2016 Collection which was inspired by Slavic Folktales of a Winter Empress.

Where to begin with this collection and better yet this show?

From the props to the faux snow on the ground, down to the lighting and the amazing music collation brought the Snow Maiden to life.

The show started off dim with the instrumental version of Once Upon a December playing in the background opening with a ready to wear long black coat.   From there ti went into all fur looks which included an all fur 50’s inspired dress with long black leather gloves.

We can easily say that was just one of our favourite looks from the show.  It then beautifully transitioned into what Paolo Sebastian is best known for, his unbelievable couture gowns which were exactly that unbelievable.

And once again Paul made what some would consider the impossible, possible.

Sheer, beading, tulle and detailed stitch work are just some of the main forms that made up his gowns. Every time one look came down we couldn’t help but turn and wait to see what beautiful creation was going to follow.  The collection along with the production felt like a dream.  For a moment we forget we were sitting in a marquee in the middle of Adelaide.

Paolo Sebastian took us on an enchanting adventure in a daze of a winter wonderland.  The Adelaide Fashion Festival closed on the highest note and we are honoured to have been able to witness all its glory.

Until next year AFF, we can’t wait!

2015 AFF – FINALE

Last night was the finale show for this year’s Adelaide Fashion Festival, closing with creative genius Paolo Sebastian and let’s just say he shut it down!

Keeping it light and fresh and weather appropriate trying to capture that effortless chic cliché – well if you want to get technical it was pretty effortless as we were running around all day we didn’t have much time to pre-plan outfits.

With Georgia opting for a white suit that can basically be worn with anything and Alexis giving us major Blair Waldorf vibes in knitted skirt and chunky jewels.

2015 AFF LEXI CLOTHING & ALEXIS GEORGE

12170749_1153072288040962_1407877585_n

Fateful Fashion made their fist appearance together at the Adelaide Fashion Festival attending the Lexi Clothing and AlexisGeorge fashion shows.  It was the best way to begin our fashion festival weekend! The show began with Lexi Clothing which is known for it’s edgy, modern style and that’s exactly what it brought. The colour palette was black and nude and when it was intertwined in one look it worked so well.  The pieces were a fresh take on fashion but instantly became timeless additions we lusted over and need in our wardrobe now.  The overall vibe of the show captured Lexi – confident & dangerous for all those bad girls out there wanting to make a statement.  The show then took a turn in to a wistful wonderland with flowing gowns gracing the runway.  AlexisGeorge still had a risk factor with their sheer take on the new elegant.

It made all the good girls want to be a little bad, because sometimes you need to be a bit dangerous when it comes to fashion.

Georgia Hall Fateful Fashion at NYFW

NYFW

I know New York Fashion Week may seem like months ago but for us it’s still running through our veins as we recap on all that went down.

We were SO fortunate enough to have been invited this year, unfortunately Alexis’ was off doing wedding stuff so she couldn’t make it so I had to take one for the team and represent Fateful Fashion in the Big Apple.

When we started this blog, we had no idea where it would lead us. Sure we had goals and we  continue to set them but if someone would have said to me 3 years ago that you would be attending the Australian Showcase at New York Fashion Week, I would have responded with a ‘yeah right’.

Well on September 10 2015, one of my biggest dreams came true, and as I got out of the cliché yellow cab at Pier 59 Studio’s a rush of emotions ran through me that almost brought me to tears.

I was living my dream, how lucky am I!!!

Being in New York alone is everything a girl obsessed with fashion lusts over but to be there when Fashion Week commenced, is an experience I will never forget.

As the lights dimmed, I had my camera ready, Kygo started up and out came the Australian pride.

With brands such as  Belluccio, Viktoria Novak, Catherine R Couture, Deborah Selleck Couture, Luom.o, Mae’ Sunday, Nadz & Sabs and When Freddie Met Lilly, Bec & Bridge,  Emma Mulholland X Mambo, Sabo Luxe, Duskii Active, Hunt & Heart, Antonella Ianni, Eder+Berk, Emu Designs, Laguna Sydney, Mauricio Alpizar, Tatiana Light and fellow Adelaide girl Simmone Standing

I felt like a very proud Australian at that moment and I went a little snap happy trying to capture all my favourite garments (which was a lot of them).

We made a pact from the start with New York in our headlights and all we have to say is to the City that never sleeps, no place in the world can compare and New York, we’ll be back.

I apologize we have been a little dormant lately, it’s been a bit of a crazy time travelling around America (can’t complain) but we have a tonne of content coming your way so make sure you’re following us, so you don’t miss out on fashion and fashion and well, more fashion.

Paolo Sebastian – ‘Nightingale’

“The Nightingale sings a song so sweet and true, pale moonlight draped upon her shoulders.”

The amazing couture designer Paolo Sebastian granted us with the his new Spring/ Summer 2015/2016 ‘Nightingale’ collection and it is stunning.

Before beginning to read this post you were able to read the description of his beautiful collection and that alone gives you goosebumps. Mixing in effortless silhouettes with soft colors and creating magical illusions. This collection is a fairytale come true.

Below are just a few photos from this dreamy collection.

ST PATTY’S DAY

Well it was St Patrick’s Day and I spent it on the sunny shores of Queesland at the impeccable Versace Hotel.

Keeping in the spirit of things I teamed my neon green bikini with my flowey green skirt for a day resting by the pool.

I always thought bather cover ups had to consist of kaftans and beachy dresses, but this skirt was like a light blanket that almost put me to sleep lazing on the lazy boys whilst reading #GIRLBOSS.

I hope you all spent your St Patty’s day in true Irish Fashion, drinking, wearing green and feeling green the next day!

Melbourne Fashion Festival – VAMFF

On Saturday night I attended the VIP Opening of Melbourne Fashion Festival. The event was presented by David Jones and supported by Vogue Australia and kicked off with a parade of male models as drummer boys followed by the ethereal Camilla collection.

It was one of the most captivating fashion festivals I have EVER attended. It was a moment I will never forget, the show not only left me in awe but reignited my love for everything fashion.

vamf-1

The festival showcased a forecast of 70s fashion making a massive comeback in a really, really good way, with the music of Bob Dylan accompanying the models as they paraded in fierce force, it was no ordinary runway parade, it was an experience one everyone can now shop on VAMFF.

For the opening of Melbourne Fashion Festival I wore this two piece (yes, another one) from Forever New, which I teamed with my classic black heels, clutch and my new very blonde hair.

vamf-2

VAMFF-–-Melbourne-Fashion-Festival

The beauty of two pieces is not only the functionality but the multi-purpose you get from them, which is my excuse every time I buy a twin-set.

You can now shop this look too at Forever New, whilst your browsing the inter-web for David Jones new collection of all brands showcased at VAMFF.

Rose-Faux-Fur-&-Club-Imperio

Rose Faux Fur & Club Imperio

Last Friday night I visited our new local club, Club Imperio and took my rose faux fur coat out on the town. This is one of Fresno’s hottest new clubs and can’t wait to go again! I couldn’t go without sporting my rose colored faux fur coat which is the hottest color of the season from Rihanna to Kim Kardashian sporting it.

Rose-Faux-Fur-&-Club-Imperio-2

I am so excited to talk about my first night ever to our new local club, Club Imperio! Great drinks and great music are a perfect combination and that is exactly what this club offers. It has hosted some of the biggest musicians thus far such as Snoop Dogg, Lil Jon and Tinashe to name a few. The club itself is amazing with a whole wall full of wine bottles on display and the beautifully decorated V.I.P sections. All in all it’s a good time and good vibes!

Rose-Faux-Fur-&-Club-Imperio3

A while back I had purchased this rose colored faux fur coat and couldn’t wait for fall and winter to come to wear it. It’s easy to say that pink has definitely made a big comeback this season in fashion and I do not mind at all. I had only worn my coat once before this season and with the weather in Fresno changing by the minute I knew I didn’t have much time left to. To accent the coat I went with a vintage ivory chiffon tank top and a black high-waisted asymmetrical skirt. Last, I finished the outfit off with multi-colored ankle strap heels and a black clutch. I went with the basic ivory and black color combo to have the coat be the focal point of the outfit!

Rose-Faux-Fur-&-Club-Imperio

Faux fur clothing itself is very intimidating and colored faux fur is even more so, many people tend to stay away because it makes such a big statement. Also, many think of faux fur as only being used for a formal, glamorous event or in the 1950s. But, it can be used and styled in so many ways! For a more casual look pair your fur with a nice blouse and dark jeans and that can transition from day to night easily! (Which I will post about soon!) For a night out throw your fur over that LBD or a cool top and black leather pants. Play with your style and never be afraid to wear fur and make that statement!

OSCARS 2015

In case you missed this year’s 87th Academy Awards, here is a little recap. Neil Patrick Harris was the charming host we all know and love him to be.  Glory was felt by all with the captivating performance of Glory by John Legend and Eddie Redmayne jumped up and down on stage like a child before giving his thanks to all those worthy for taking out Best Actor in a leading role for his character in ‘The Theory of Everything’.

And of course, what we live for, that elegant Red Carpet, here are some of the best looks worn by this year’s attendees.

Type 1 Awareness

Yesterday the Charity Group I am involved in – Type 1 Voice, teamed up with Deviation Road Winery and Australian Fashion Labels to help raise awareness on Type 1 Diabetes and also launch a new collaboration between Type 1 Voice and Australian Fashion Labels.

The new collaboration consists of a custom range of dresses where an internal pocket is created to hold the insulin pump discretely within the dress.

Type 1 Diabetes is a subject that’s very close to home. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes almost 7 years ago, it’s been a roller-coaster ride, with many ups and downs,  I’ve learnt a lot about myself and would not be the person I am today if I didn’t have this disease.  One thing it has done, is open my eyes about helping those around me, I know firsthand how difficult it can be, and if there’s one thing I can do is offer support.

I’m very lucky to have the support I have, It has definitely made the journey a lot easier and that’s what the initiative of Type 1 Voice, to help support people like me in their everyday life, from work to School and University and even to ensure they are getting the right type of support from their medical team.

Thanks to Australian Fashion Labels for their support in this cause and for allowing me to showcase this beautifully structured gingham dress designed by Finders Keepers from their new range.  I teamed it with my Steve Madden wedge navy heels and my new sunnies from Naked Boutique in Rundle Street.

Overall it was an amazing turnout in the picturesque winery Deviation Road and a lot of awareness was raised for a meaningful cause, one that benefits many including myself

Visit the Type 1 Voice and Australian Fashion Labels website to view the new range and find out more.

Fashion & Fizz

AFL

Fateful Fashion are proud to announce their partnership with Australian Fashion Labels & Type 1 Voice for the Fundraiser event held at Deviation Road Winery

The event which will be hosted by Media Presenter Nerida Foord and will benefit Type 1
Voice, a not-for-profit charity that helps raise awareness for those living with type 1 diabetes. The
organisation hopes to help eliminate social stigmas surrounding the condition and help boost the emotional
and physical confidence of those requiring insulin therapy.

“The decision to host a fashion show stems from our strong focus on helping grow self-esteem and
confidence in people living with diabetes,” says Lorraine Pitman, Type 1 Voice founder and chair. “Fashion
is a global statement of how people feel, and people with diabetes need to self-manage publicly every
day.”

Besides having Deviation Road Winery in Longwood in the Adelaide Hills as the backdrop for ‘Fashion &
Fizz’, with guests enjoying their premium wines, the winery’s owner and winemaker, Kate Laurie, is personally connected to the cause. Kate was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes herself in 2009 and is a member of Type 1 Voice. It was while dining with friends Melanie and Dean Flintoft, directors of Australian
Fashion Labels, that the opportunities for a fundraiser took form.

“It was at a dinner party with Melanie and Dean [Flintoft] that we really started talking about the restrictions the insulin pump put on people in their fashion choices,” explains Kate.

Kate is also currently in discussions for further collaborations between Australian Fashion Labels and the diabetes community, with the first exciting concept to the launched on the night.

Australian Fashion Labels will present the February ranges from their brands, Cameo, Finders Keepers, Keepsake and The Fifth on the runway for the first time. Local accessories designer Miss Margie will also showcase her newest range of accessories.

‘Fashion & Fizz’ tickets include drinks, nibbles, runway show and silent auction.

Costco Holiday Party

Last Saturday I was able to join my fiancé to his company’s annual holiday party hosted at Pardini’s Cafe. Which I was super excited for because Costco (the company he works for) is one of the best companies to work for and throws amazing holiday parties. So, I had been looking forward to it all week!

As for my outfit I knew I wanted to wear something different rather than the typical “holiday dress look”. My obsession with high-waisted flares had only expanded even more and I loved Kim Kardashian’s high-waisted pant look to her Fleur Fatale fragrance launch and my ideas just slurred from there!

That whole week prior to the event I was on the hunt for the perfect pair of black high-waisted pants. I found them at a boutique store called ANGL. Thank goodness I did. I had been to every store at our mall and went to this one last minute as the stores were closing and poof there they were! I did need to get them a bit tailored but that was no biggie! Remember I am only 5’1” so, alterations are my best friends. When it came to the top I knew I wanted to bring back the tube top and show that it can be worn in a classic way rather than your typical 100 degree summer use only top. It was a bit of a challenge finding one since it is almost winter and tube tops aren’t big sellers right now. So, again began the hunt to find that also! Indeed there was one store (brand new at our mall) named Joppa that carried them in every color—but black! So, I was glad the all-black outfit in mind was out of the question.

All in all the holiday party met my expectations and I cannot wait to attend next year’s! (Their raffle prizes are amazing!). I’m talking about big screen tv’s, bluray players etc. We, of course didn’t win any of that but, we did win some nice glass reindeer statues! You can never have too many Christmas decorations so, we were happy! That weekend officially kicked off the holidays now it’s time to pick out next weekend’s holiday outfit. The fashion adventures continue!

Marina

Yesterday I spent the afternoon by the sandy shores of Glenelg, Adelaide.  It was a little chilly and windy to go swimming but it was perfect weather to admire the beautiful yachts perched in the Marina, expect I had to keep catching my hat from flying away and sailing away forever.

We had lunch down at The Moseley, which is the perfect spot to enjoy a lazy Saturday or Sunday drink.

I thought I had said goodbye to jeans and long sleeves, but with the sun stuck behind the clouds I got to pull out one of my favorite pair of jeans that I got in Melbourne from Top Shop.

I teamed them with my go-to Steve Madden chunk heels, Mink Pink Hat, Bardot shirt (that goes with everything) and my new favorite Mimco bag.

As I already had a bit going on in my outfit, I decided to keep my accessories to the basics, including my Michael Kors watch that I use as a feature for most of my outfits.

This was a super easy look to make dressy, adding a pair of heels and a red lip always helps class up jeans.

Hope you enjoyed your weekend and if you get a chance next weekend go check out the Moseley off Jetty Road!

Twin Set

My love for matching outfits will live on forever, at the moment I am obsessed with this print two piece which I picked up from Bardot.   I wore this set to my friends Record Label Launch party, it was a perfect summers night for loose pants and silky shirts.

These sets work so well for me because I’m not big on accessorizing, luckily this outfit does all the talking!

Is it too soon to outfit repeat?

Frozen

10849851_297525230446866_6721423039095301808_n

Last week was the launch of Frozen Beer Co.  The event was hosted at the Loft Bar, one of Adelaides trendy venues.  People poured in to pour a cup of their first taste of Frozen Beer.

A revolution to the traditional Aussie summer drink, one that won’t melt away as soon as you sit in the sun.  It’s something that you need to try it to believe it.

Imagine to have your favorite beer served consistently cold in this hot summer with a delicious, silky and smooth beer.

It’s a craze that originated in Japan and has since gone on and become a hit in the US, Canada and even France! In the US, frozen beer was introduced to the Dodgers Stadium where baseball fans can enjoy a frozen beer at $11 a pint. Frozen beer can also be enjoyed on a day out at  Walt Disney’s Epcot Theme Park, Bay Lake Florida. In Chicago this year, frozen beer was available at Lagunitas Beer Circus and music festivals.

Frozen Beer Co. has already been causing quite a stir on social media with some of Adelaide’s famous faces having joined together to promote the new product. From the likes of Bollywood actress and model, Lucinda Nicholas, My Kitchen Rule’s Paul Wood, Insta famous Jake Bley, photographer Alex Drewniak, ex-Adelaide Councilor and business man Francis Wong, Finesse Model Madz Ando, Channel ‘s Christina Cavaleri as well as many others.

The event was also filled with Adelaide’s Fashion finest, with photographers snapping away outfit shots all night long where over 350 of Adelaide’s lucky A-list got to have their first taste..

Thank you to everyone involved for kicking off the silly sister with a bang!

For the occasion I wore one of my favorite crop blazers’ by Forever 21, teamed with black high waisted shorts and my trust black heel, an easy comfortable outfit for a perfect summers night in Adelaide City.

Venues/festivals interested in serving frozen beer should contact Frozen Beer Co. www.frozenbeerco.com

These shirts are officially on SALE!

We are also donating 10% of all proceeds towards the Leukemia Foundation, so please your support means the world to us!

Check out our interview with Paul that we did late last year here: www.fatefulfashion.com/press

So, I never did an outfit post for my actual birthday, but here’s what I wore to one of my best friends 21st Dinner.

I always struggle with over-dressing and under-dressing, so instead of opting for a skirt or high heels I donned jeans and heeled boots.

I also have  a matching top for these jeans, but I’m waiting for the right occasion to wear it, because with fashion it’s all about the timing!

Quinceanera Weekend!

This past weekend my family and I held a traditional mexican quinceanera for my cousin Ayleen. This tradition is a very important one in my culture. It is a coming of age party for a celebration of a girl’s fifteenth birthday and her transition from childhood to adulthood, typically involving a mass and of course like I stated before, followed by a party. It is one of the most exciting parts of our lives beside our wedding. It includes a ball gown, a crown and an honor court. You are the princess for the day and it’s all in all a magical day (I wish I could go back to mine) hehe.

It was so much fun to have a makeup artist and hair stylist at our house getting all of my aunts and cousins ready. We had never had that before and it was a party before the party. Makeup and Hair by Emily is the one to go to for all of your beauty needs! She made us all look and feel beautiful. Including with my dress from the website Fame and Partners paired with my vintage Chanel chain belt. They worked with me personally to customize my own color and shipped it to me right on time from Australia.

I didn’t take too many photos of my outfit just because I was running around like a crazy person, greeting everyone and making sure my cousin had the magical day she deserved. But, I hope you enjoy the few fun photos I took of the night including my beautiful cousin and her amazing gown!

Last weekend I did a quick one night visit to Melbourne for one of my best friends’ surprise party and it’s safe to say, we had a lot of fun!

While we I was there I took a few outfit snaps on our walk around Melbourne, it’s so easy to be inspired there yet it was hard not having any photobombs.

Finally, I did. For those of you that do not live in Fresno or have never been it gets super hot and I mean super hot here. We have had consecutive weeks of triple digit weather and at that point you just want to wear a tank top, shorts and opened shoes. But, this thin silky chiffon dress was right on point for our heat heavy Saturday and I couldn’t have been more pleased.

Olive-Silk-Midi-1

I love the color olive green when it comes to pieces of clothing. This color is one of my go to colors for summer and fall because in the summer it meshes well with your nice tanned skin and in the fall it meshes well with the leaves that are falling from the trees. I love it. So, finding it in this silk chiffon as a midi dress was fashion perfection for me.

I paired it with my vintage Coach Classic flap bag, my t-strap Old Navy sandals and my favorite pair of gold bracelets from Mexico. This is probably one of my favorite outfits of the summer not only because of the dress but, because I felt equally as comfortable as I did beautiful. And, when it comes to fashion comfort and confidence are key.

Wintry Wardrobe

I have been dormant on posting an outfit shot for a while, Winter ties you up inside but today I got my hair and I thought why not!

It’s more of a casual winter approach, but I’m wearing some of my favorite wardrobe and winter staples, these white jeans that are always in the wash after one wear because I am very clumsy but they were a must have for me.

Teamed with a simple baggy jumper, which I love I have so many because they are so comfy and my splurge buy Tony Bianco Boots.

As much as I love winter, after getting my hair done the last thing I needed was the rain.

Sirens of the Sea

_JG17331-Edit[1]

We got the email for Paolo Sebastians Spring/Summer 14/15 Legend of the Sea Sirens inspired collection and we are so excited to share it with you!

A series of muted tones drawn from the coast, shades include sea foam, violet and shell. kl10441157_671917692880153_4335611867837357164_nCloudy opal stones, iridescent beads, and shell-like embellishments evoke an otherworldly feel, whilst this season’s custom print – inspired by vibrant coral reefs -embodies the flirtatious nature of the siren.

The collection features intensely embroidered ball gowns, sheer fishtail silhouettes in soft tulle and a cut out swimsuit.

The intricately hand-beaded finale gown exemplifies the craftsmanship that the label prides itself upon. 10485415_671917812880141_2447168535606278162_o“This season we have gone for a sleeker look,” says designer Paul Vasileff.

“We have remained true to our classic Paolo Sebastian shape, whilst playing with sheerness and texture to create something new.”

“In the past I’ve looked to conventional fairy tales for inspiration, but this season I was drawn to the concept of the siren and her blend of beauty and darkness”, says Vasileff.

Enjoy! We know you will X 10468489_671917972880125_7488057414092240441_o
